Agreed from the Canucks perspective it is a good thing. My comments were that if I was Hutton, I wouldnt be calling MDZ a 'good depth' signing as he likely slots in behind MDZ now and possibly taking icetime and opportunity away particularly on the PP

I am not sold on the stop gap thing at all .I know many will disagree but I would take a run at Tavares or Turris. You could offer long term contracts and outbid most suitors. If you landed one then you could also start moving Sutters contract. There a a couple of big fish next year and bringing back two old slow guys does not appeal to me at all. We could also go after another top 6 forward also.

Hansen was one of the few players I had mixed emotions about letting go. There is no irony or hypocrisy in that. It is not like a 37 year old or 35 year old that lumbers up the ice like Burrows Higgins Sedins Hamhuis .

Hansen still had a lot of game left.
