@Hillbilly
If you look forward to the 2018-19 season and forget about signing the Sedins then you have 14 mil to find a longer term replacement. Even a trade as Scooby suggested earlier . Gagner can cushion part of the departure while Pettersson and Gaudette start to mature.
This also gives you flexibility to move Sutter and get 4.3 more cap space . I imagine Gudbrandson will be also let go this year freeing up another 3.5 . That brings you up to 22 mil to find two top 6 players.
@ Makita .
Don't blame you one bit bud. You always had my respect . You did a great job that was thankless.
You are bang on about the kinderbuzz. Not pointing fingers at anyone but it needs to stop |

Thanks Carol! Quality work again
I would be surprised if we end up with more then 75 points this year. Improved..yes. playoff improved.. no.
Very sad Makita has packed it up. Hope he reconsiders |

Good day everyone,
Well I have decided enough is enough, it seems that there is a couple of individuals here that feel that they are being targeted, not only directly but indirectly also.
And I am being demanded to do something about this, so I did put out a post that requested 3 individuals to stop badgering each other, but it was also a notice for everyone.
That wasn't enough, so CaptEO was contacted, we have had a conversation and I have supplied some exchanges that I feel fall into the childish bracket.
Well today I have been contacted again and I have been demanded to had out a 2 week ban for childish behavior, but what I plan on doing is stepping back.
I have supplied CaptEO with 3 names that I feel will be good mods, maybe you will see a new mod soon, I'm not sure as EO is deliberating on the situation.
I never believed that grown men could act so childish and petty. I think posters should reflect on what they post, if you are going to make outrageous statements and claims, you should also take a little ribbing.
Have at it guys, enjoy the summer. |

I think they'll be less dreadful to watch, but I don't think they'll effectively be any better. Some standings points with some new coach voodoo and an extra 2-3 wins for improved special teams probably takes them out of 2nd last, but not by much.
They'll scrap it out with Vegas, Detroit and Colorado for the basement. I could even see Columbus and Florida well in the tank too. |

I'd probably hang on to Sutter, as much as I don't think he's that great and feel hes kind of a twat. The Gagner signing is a really nice little piece of work, especially if the Twins retire. Effectively buys you three years for Gaudette and Pettersson to make it versus looking at a center depth of Horvat-Sutter-Nothing-Empty next sumer and risk rushing one of them into the lineup due to lack of better options, kinda like what happened with McCann. |

I like your thinking with the cap and moves to make space.
The biggest challenge with that approach is signing those top 6 players. If you make room and then can't sign the guys you want, you are either stuck with holes in the lineup or signing ufa's that weren't your first choice to sign.
whatever happens, we need some blue chip prospects either from the draft or from trading guys like Guddy or Sutter.
That talk of JT was interesting. Is he too old? what are the prime years for nhlers today? 22 to 28 or 30? I'd rather us over pay on a shorter contract than sign these guys til they are mid thirties with ntc's.
I'm not sure what the best approach is to building a team. So much luck is involved.

I voted 60-65 (i think those were the numbers)
I think 75 if the team can stay completely healthy. Long shot though for this team lol |

We don't need him. If we keep drafting well and developing at some point that player(s) will materialize. Allow the process to continue. |

I wouldn't say he's too old. He'll be exiting his capital P Prime but I can't imagine his drop off would be too extreme.
But I think he's too old for the Canucks window. It's probable that he's 29 before the team is making legit strides again depending how the defence and forwards develop. |

2018
Sedin Sedin Granlund
Sven Bo Boeser
Eriksson Sutter Gagner
Gaunce Megna Dorsett
or
Kane Turris Grabner
Granlund Bo Boeser
Goldobin Gagner Hansen
King Burmistrov Stewart
Of course you are no going to make all these moves but it does point out they can be upgraded cheaper and younger. |

Theres still tons of players +30 who are ripping up the league and leading their teams:
Bergeron, KOivu, Steen, Zetterberg, Williams, SPezza, Getzclaf, Perry, Kesler, Carter, everyone in San Joses top five. So signing someone like Tavares, will still put him around 28-30 by the time this team starts to hopefully made a dent.
In 3 years time Bo, Granlund, Sven, BB, Tanev, Stecher, Hutton, will just be hitting their prime years. I would hope the kids, EP, Gaudette, Dahlen, Goldy, Lind, OJ, Demo, Gadj will be starting to find their game as well. Could be a lethal team.
I also hope that Bo, Granlund and Sven/BB continue to play together - so in 3 years time they have deadly chemistry. They've already shown some great flashes together and they're all 23 and under. I really hope they all hit the 20 goal plateau this year and keep building on that.
