I would have to say no, they're still not in any position to compete for a playoff spot imo and you'll most likely see the late season tank again to improve draft odds.

Good on you Maky, glad your tyrannical reign is over
This place isn't worth stress. - belcherbd
Confused though. Thought for some time they were trying to add a ref for Micah55 who is MIA. Why wouldn't Makita welcome this help on corralling Kinderbuzz? |

@Hillbilly
If you look forward to the 2018-19 season and forget about signing the Sedins then you have 14 mil to find a longer term replacement. Even a trade as Scooby suggested earlier . Gagner can cushion part of the departure while Pettersson and Gaudette start to mature.
This also gives you flexibility to move Sutter and get 4.3 more cap space . I imagine Gudbrandson will be also let go this year freeing up another 3.5 . That brings you up to 22 mil to find two top 6 players.
@ Makita .
Don't blame you one bit bud. You always had my respect . You did a great job that was thankless.
You are bang on about the kinderbuzz. Not pointing fingers at anyone but it needs to stop - VANTEL
That was Booner's observation. Wonder if he's in for the fix? The more the merrier to help Makita.

Good day everyone,
Well I have decided enough is enough, it seems that there is a couple of individuals here that feel that they are being targeted, not only directly but indirectly also.
And I am being demanded to do something about this, so I did put out a post that requested 3 individuals to stop badgering each other, but it was also a notice for everyone.
That wasn't enough, so CaptEO was contacted, we have had a conversation and I have supplied some exchanges that I feel fall into the childish bracket.
Well today I have been contacted again and I have been demanded to had out a 2 week ban for childish behavior, but what I plan on doing is stepping back.
I have supplied CaptEO with 3 names that I feel will be good mods, maybe you will see a new mod soon, I'm not sure as EO is deliberating on the situation.
I never believed that grown men could act so childish and petty. I think posters should reflect on what they post, if you are going to make outrageous statements and claims, you should also take a little ribbing.
Have at it guys, enjoy the summer. - Makita
Best to you Makita and thx so much for your efforts. It could not have been easy at times.
Cheers bro. |

Theres still tons of players +30 who are ripping up the league and leading their teams:
Bergeron, KOivu, Steen, Zetterberg, Williams, SPezza, Getzclaf, Perry, Kesler, Carter, everyone in San Joses top five. So signing someone like Tavares, will still put him around 28-30 by the time this team starts to hopefully made a dent.
In 3 years time Bo, Granlund, Sven, BB, Tanev, Stecher, Hutton, will just be hitting their prime years. I would hope the kids, EP, Gaudette, Dahlen, Goldy, Lind, OJ, Demo, Gadj will be starting to find their game as well. Could be a lethal team.
I also hope that Bo, Granlund and Sven/BB continue to play together - so in 3 years time they have deadly chemistry. They've already shown some great flashes together and they're all 23 and under. I really hope they all hit the 20 goal plateau this year and keep building on that. - Brooks_Light
Agree with the above. Granlund and Sven had 18/19 goals in 68/69 games so if they stay healthy 20 goals should be reached. Even more so if they get offensive help from others.
As for JT it should be a no brainer to sign him. Why that is even a debate is mind boggling. The reality though is that he is not likely to hit UFA as a young superstar. Plus if he did 30 other teams would break the bank to sign him too. A rebuilding team in high tax market on the Westcoast likely low on that list |

2018
Sedin Sedin Granlund
Sven Bo Boeser
Eriksson Sutter Gagner
Gaunce Megna Dorsett
or
Kane Turris Grabner
Granlund Bo Boeser
Goldobin Gagner Hansen
King Burmistrov Stewart
Of course you are no going to make all these moves but it does point out they can be upgraded cheaper and younger. - VANTEL
posting lineups is the only safe way to post these days.
i like your style VT.
my latest hope for next season is:
Sedin/Sedin/Erikson
Sven/Bo/Boesser
Granlund/Sutter/Gagner
JV/Burmistov/Dorsett
extra: Rodin, Gaunce, Goldobin, Chaput, Boucher, Megna - depending on need.
I'd like to give Erikson another shot with the twins (sorta why he was signed in the first place) on the 1st line and PP.
The 2nd line could be deadly if Brock continues to snipe and Bo crashes the net, potentially creating some more space for Sven as well.
3rd line is all C's and should be able to play a good 2 way game with some finish. I'm looking at Granlund to take another step forward this year. I'd rotate him with Eriksson to keep the twins fresh and the opposing D honest.
4th line has speed and can hit and should be able to score if they keep the puck away from DD. JV is the key to that line having success or being a typical 4th. imo. |

Agree on cheaper and younger. Down for signing entering prime Kane and Turris to retire out Sedins. Not sure how it fits bringing in two older ex Canucks back to chop off younger guys. See you put in a robust older traditional 4th line that serves a superstar top heavy team. But that Nuck line up is far from that. Perhaps a new approach with a scoring 4th line would balance things out? Maybe leave room for ready prospects to be eased in? |

Sorry that the numbskull children in here couldn't play nice Makita.
It really is lame.
So repetitive (on both sides) and boring really.
If everyone could just shut up about it and quit trying to get the last word, this place would be much more enjoyable.
I hope you stick around and continue to post.
I know i wouldn't have the patience to be a mod..so quit asking!

Lots of good posters have disappeared from this site. It seems like half the posters here are now douchebags who post crap just to get negative reactions. Ek blew it by letting the site degrade to this level. It will only continue to get worse. |

Okay with your top 9 for 2017. Sure they will mix them up at times. Eg. speedy RS Gagner could wirl with Sedins too & LE balance out Bo/Sven. Vantel was skipping to 2018 with his roster.
Are you sending the 6 extra's to Comets? Some might not make it. If you want to keep puck away from DD, put in Rodin or Goldy instead for your speed wishes to score, with JV and Burm covering the hitting part. |

Sorry to see you go Makita, you're a good poster. Hopefully now that your not a chip you can get back to posting more often.
I'm going with 112 points and a first round sweep on the back of Guance's first 71 goal, 137 points season, unfortunately he gets hurt in the last game and the team stands up Like spoiled pajamas.
Peterson recovers from his back injury and makes the team but Guance's rise causes jb to trade Peterson for an established veteran goalie at the deadline...... Luongo, who has a playoff gaa of 5.62. |

Shockingly, Leafs fans are not the only trolls around here. Probably just as many trolls in the the Leafs threads from other teams. |
