Why did you expect it to be like Private Ryan, when the scenario was the exact opposite? Dunkirk was about 400,000+ soldiers trying to get back to England, the waiting on the beach/in the rescue boats was the most terrifying part. It wasn't full out war, it was them being pinned down, and picked off by the Luffwaffe dive bombers.
It depicted the situation to a tee. While I loved the movie, it was the most stressful/uncomfortable movie experience I've ever had. I think for that reason it succeeds. - Brooks_Light
In the way that it was intense war scenes all the way is what I meant. The reviews I read suggested to me to expect that.
While I know lots about WW2 I wasnt familiar with the dunkirk story so I didnt know any different. |

Something definitely changed just under a year ago.
I'll take some blame for rising to the bait, should have just flaged and ignored a little more. I did find that some posters really like condemning others opinions but couldn't take criticism of their own, if you throw out an idea that is outlandish, own that poop, accept that you'll get bugged for saying it, but grow a pair and laugh it off.
Also continuing to whine and pming mods for that isn't cool at all, nothing that i read or wrote since Makita threw down the hammer crossed any lines or broke the COC, I 100 percent feel that skin shouldn't be so thin. - Pres.cup
I'm not going to point fingers at posters, I think a lot of this is just having our team in the basement.
It isn't much fun watching a losing team. and many have solutions that JB will never follow and others react or don't to those solutions.
For me it comes down to thinking the club should do this or that, but then wondering what JB will actually do based on history.
Jabs should be somewhat friendly but anything in an email or posted on the internet can easily be misinterpreted. and of course, if you are reading stuff on the internet, you should take everything with a grain of salt and not go off.
I like the insight some posters provide. If they have a friend of a friend or some ties to the organization. Even sh1t Scoob's groomer tells him. We actually see so little behind the scenes stuff. |

It just all seems pretty odd to me..the timing specifically. This is a great time to be a fan and I would expect all posters to be rejoicing in unison. We have Gaunce, who is in great shape by the way, already lighting up the league and Subban isn't far behind. Let's focus on the positives guys |

It's actually an exciting time to watch them draft well and build a team. Overall I'm not a Jim Benning fan but I'll be the first to admit he seemingly had a good draft this year and the owner has gotten out of his way.
I know they're still a bad team but the future looks good if they continue to build through the draft. |

Possibly cus it was more of an England-related tale.
But not liking a movie cus it wasn't more like Private Ryan isn't really fair. That's like saying I didn't like the new Spiderman movie cus Batman wasn't in it. - Brooks_Light
There were plenty of Canadians stuck on that shore as well. Funny how any pre-American battles are totally overlooked in the Hollywood sense, not to mention the entire eastern front. |

Good day everyone,
Well I have decided enough is enough, it seems that there is a couple of individuals here that feel that they are being targeted, not only directly but indirectly also.
And I am being demanded to do something about this, so I did put out a post that requested 3 individuals to stop badgering each other, but it was also a notice for everyone.
That wasn't enough, so CaptEO was contacted, we have had a conversation and I have supplied some exchanges that I feel fall into the childish bracket.
Well today I have been contacted again and I have been demanded to had out a 2 week ban for childish behavior, but what I plan on doing is stepping back.
I have supplied CaptEO with 3 names that I feel will be good mods, maybe you will see a new mod soon, I'm not sure as EO is deliberating on the situation.
I never believed that grown men could act so childish and petty. I think posters should reflect on what they post, if you are going to make outrageous statements and claims, you should also take a little ribbing.
Have at it guys, enjoy the summer. - Makita
I hope that you'll be back as a regular poster soon enough. When you werent babysitting, it was fun discussing/debating/joking around |

Unrelated hockey news. Wife and i just bought a stroller. Middle of the pack one. And it cost us 1500$. Im new to this whole baby thing, but have they always criminally screwed over new parents with over inflated prices on all things baby? Was very shocked to pay that much.
Back to hockey. Bold prediction. Due to our AHL team lacking depth in the forward position, i see Pettersson completing his season with Vaxjo, signing his ELC after, and burning a year of his contract playing out the remaining games with the canucks. - Codes1087
My sister just bought one and its crazy nice. It was about $1200-1500 but its very versatile. It can adapt to hold 2 kids, plus a platform for a 3rd to stand on. The basket part pops off and clips in to becomes the carseat. They are planning for more so it made it worthwhile, but as a nonparent I was very impressed |

"in the end more than 330,000 Allied troops were rescued".
sounds like a withdraw was a victory.

I know the typical thing to do is thank Carol for her awesome blogging but today I am going to thank Makita.
Always fair and also has a great sense of humor. Something that many mods don't have.
Hope you guys can convince him to change his mind. |

I highly doubt we can. Most likely the next mod will be less lenient on trolls. I like Makita and thought he was fair, but sometimes he should have been stricter on people. |

It is a fine line to walk. I'd rather Makita with his rope than mods from other teams coming in here with the ban hammer.
Thankless job either way. Hope he keeps posting. |

Yeah you could make hundreds of war movies based on fascinating events. I dig any story that has little to no "American factor" to it. I also loved this movie bcus the sound or lack-of played such a distinct role. It was terrifyingly loud to the point that it stressed me out as a viewer, I can't imagine how the real soldiers felt. I actually read that some vets in the news recently said "the volume in the movie theatre was louder than real life!!" I also dug the faceless villain, not once did you see an actually German.

I finally watched that History channel documentary 'Vietnam in HD'.
Outstanding. Not only is the footage unreal but they go in-depth with some soldiers and their families...so well done. WWII in HD is great too but for me the Vietnam one was better as I found that war fascinating. |

Thank you Carol for yet another piece to maintain the peace.
And thank you to our top cop Mikita (Marky). You tried your best to maintain sanity. I know it was probably insane with the way some conversation or debates turned to personal insults and name calling. I really appreciated that efforts you made to keep Carol's blog clean. I expected the Trolls from other teams to come and stir some poop. But it is extremely difficult to read when some of our own start the trolling.
I hope you stick around and post every now and then. Please don't become Fosco and disappear. I really like your sensible approach and candor towards legitimate hockey conversations.
To that cost of strollers. That is effed up. The collusion by the industry is unreal. There is a report that was published not too long ago about the cost of raising a single child from birth to college is well over 500k. I guess a 1500 stroller is part of that equation. |

The "Battlefield" documentary series is very educational for WWII and Vietnam. |

I find it strange how serious some people take themselves on this site. Maybe you know more than others, but if you can't laugh at yourself or can't stand when others take the piss then you should probably spend less time on the internet and more time in therapy. |
