There is a chance that Mittelstadt could be the steal of the draft and may end up being the best forward selected. His upside and skill was/is as high as anyone in that draft. The Sabres haven't had a ton of luck in the draft. But im hoping that we could finally strike gold for once. - MCGUIZZY
I agree more and more. He could live up to top guy drafted potentially. |

Wednesday Night is NBCSN's "Rivalry Night". Interesting that Buffalo-Columbus has become a "rivalry". |

They're closer than the florida teams, but the current divisions dont mean anything anyway. The interconference play has ruined rivalries in the NHL. We play toronto 4 times a year and the avalanche twice |

I can see the East being: Pittsburgh, Columbus, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Washington, in that order next season as far as playoffs are concerned.
Montreal, Ottawa, Boston, I'm predicting to all miss the playoffs. And not because I'm a homer and they're our division rivals, but because Ottawa's goaltending is a question mark (They have like 6 goalies and Craig Anderson is not getting younger), Montreal are nothing if Carey Price misses any amount of games and Boston are on the downswing.
Florida could be a surprise, Buffalo can push for 8th with all of our moves this off-season (I'm gonna be honest, I thought we were a sure lock to miss the playoffs but I've loved our moves this off-season), Detroit could be a lot better but I see Philly and New Jersey as the bottom teams in the East. Philly's window is about to slam shut and they'd be better off trading one of Giroux, Vorachek or Simmonds. IMO. |

Reading some of the news coming out of Philly was an eye opener for me. A lot of people think Giroux is pretty much spent, or at least he's not a 1c anymore. Some are even suggesting he move to wing. Vorachek has been up and down and is in no way a sure thing
As for Simmonds, he's really good, i doubt they would ever move him |

The top 3 teams from each division are guaranteed a spot. There's only two teams from the Atlantic division on your list |
