Cool. I watched both of them play so my opinion is just as valid. You are still wrong. - Feds91Stammer
And you're an idiot, wow I can say random things too. I've watchted em both play from their rookie seasons onwards. Crosby is a fine skater but no one would rate him as one of the fastest players in todays NHL. |

Of course a coach is going to reference a player he coached for 6-7 years. Those are the most vivid memories. I'm sure if you ask Disco Dan, he would compare him to Crosby in his early years. Cognitive Bias. - j.boyd919
And a Penguins blog writer saying Crosby is as good at stick handling at high speeds as McDavid, isn't biased how? Crosby is a good skater but he's not as at McDavid's level speed wise. Few players have ever been. |

Well at least MI can sell out an outdoor game and doesn't claim to be the "state of hockey" |

Well they do claim to be "Hockeytown" so there's that. The whole state of hockey thing has more to do with the number of NHLers that come from Minnesota vs the rest of the US, but yes we are in agreement for once, its a bad marketing gimmick. |

A lot of people would rate him as one of the fastest. This is an absurd take. |

He's not even the fastest on his own team! Hagelin and Kessel are both faster skaters. And no one would say he's McDavid's speed. |

Sid will also be 30 in 5 days, so of course he isn't as fast as he once was. When he came into the league at 18, he was pretty (frank)ing fast. Also, Crosby probably has the best edgework in the NHL, and some of the best hands. Right now? McDavid is definitely faster, no doubt. But Sid was no slouch in his younger days. |

He actually has the wheels to compete with those guys, it's just that his game usually involves him having to do thing so that are flying up and down the ice all the time like Hagelin and Kessel who are almost purely north-south players.
Also just because we have three of the fastest players in the league doesn't mean that any one of them have less elite speed. |

Of course he wasn't and isnt! But there are very few that could be comparable to McDavid in terms of stick handling at that high of speed, because very few can reach that speed and still handle the puck effectively. Modano and Federov and Bure could do what McDavid does now at around the same speed. Maybe Paul Coffey? Id say Ovi and Sid both were very fast and could handle the puck at high speeds but not at the same speed as McDavid. |

Not to mention all 3 don't have equivalent hands. Which is also part of the argument. |

The point is comparing any of them with McDavid's speed and how they stick handle at said speed. No one is saying they aren't fast. But none of them were at McDavids level for sheer speed and stick handling while at full speed. It's not a knock on any of them. |

Sid is possibly the best skater in the entire league. Just his overall power, speed, and agility. Nobody mohawks as much as he does. |
