As a Sabres fan all my life I see 2 things that are consistant:
1) They have good luck with goaltenders
2) They underestimate 3rd & 4th line players.
While some may say that those level players are expendable and can be plug 'n play with no real loss, I beg to differ. A good team has 4 good lines rolling at all times and those 3rd & 4th liners should be made up of players with real strong character and mental toughness, defensive skill that can except their 3/4 role with the ability to score 20 pts + a season
Names that come to mind are Byron, Paille,Mitchell, Marcus Foligno and Jamie McGinn.
McGinn and Foligno I wish were still on the team. Both are the type of players that can solidify the bottom 6 on any team. Both are tough players with a lil scoring touch that have significant NHL experience.
Watch Foligno have a break out year - Minny wins this trade.
Please feel free to name your own players that were either traded or released |

that pre lockout team was brutal
nothing like hearing robie on the post game crying about goaltending when the team lost 4-1 night after night and biron makes 40 plus saves a game
I really lost a lot of respect for Mike during that season - homiedclown
You gotta admit it's pretty bad when "Hot Stuff the Chief Cheesemaker" from Yancey's Fancy won't even work with you anymore.

I think most would agree Foligno is a loss, but what's more important, a 3rd liner or a Top 4 D? I'll take the top 4 D all day
