some of the goalies hockey reference compares him to
burke
vokoun
nabokov
kolzig
joseph
and for you old timers
vachon - homiedclown
That sounds about right. Not sure I agree with Sean Burke though he only had like 2 good seasons.
What separates Miller is that he was "good" for a very long time in a league where goalies, like Burke and Bryzgalov, come out of nowhere, are good, maybe even great for a year or 2 and then drop off the face of the Earth. Miller has been Steady Eddie for the last 12 years including those great years.
Ahhhh i see what you mean..and yes i agree...if House lets jack do his thing there are going to be alot of canadian pundits suddenly rememebering to mention him along with the golden boys mcdaivd and matthews - feetontheair22
He was better than that. I know he didn't deserve top6 minutes, but think he's a competent 3rd line player. I don't buy him being a big loss, but he does toss the body around a lot, could drop the gloves and could pop in a few each year. Am I worried he'll be missed, no. Do I think he is a decent player, yes.
AKA he's replaceable, but isn't dime a dozen if that's fair.
Depends on Phil the Thrill's coaching philosophy. If he doesn't want players on their off-wing, I would say slim to none. If he doesn't care I would still probably say pretty low.
nothing like hearing robie on the post game crying about goaltending when the team lost 4-1 night after night and biron makes 40 plus saves a game
I really lost a lot of respect for Mike during that season - homiedclown
He was brutal for a few years there. Even on Hockey Hotline and his ever changing hair piece. I don't know if Harry Neale's eternal optimism did something to him, but he turned it around there at the end.

Okposo has played LW with the Islanders
I'd guess it wouldn't be a big deal for him to switch,
unless he's uncomfortable on that side

Pre-Lockout when no one scored goals? Someone needs to get a hold of Sakic, Iginla, Jagr, Lemeuix, Kovalchuk, Bure, Hejduk, Nash, Heatley, Brett Hull, Glen Murray, Todd Betuzzi, Marion Hossa and the literally dozens of other guys who regularly scored 40+ goals before the lockout.
FFS, Marcus Naslund was pushing 50 goals before the first lockout of the 2000's. - BeadyEyedDouche
It went from 2.57 GPG in 03-04 to 3.08 GPG in 05-06. That's a massive difference.
And we're back down to 2.77 now. Which is actually up over the past few years at 2.71 and 2.73. But is still a far cry from the early 90's when those guys played at 3.6 ish it wasn't until 97 where it went into nosedive clutch and grab.
The first time Biron played more than 6 games in a season was 99-00 when the average GPG was lower than last year at 2.75 and fell off a cliff down to 2.57 in 03-04. So yeah, he played in an era where no one could score.

That's fine, but he did that on the Islanders. With a different coach. Not every coach is the same. Adam Oates tried to ruin Ovechkin by making him play RW because he didn't want anyone playing their off-wing.
Girgs will be gone in the next 18 imo. There's no spot for him going forward as a center if either Erod or Middlestadt make the team full time next year. Larsson is the superior FO and PK guy for that 3rd line role. Maybe they'll try to pump girgs value this year, but I don't expect anything out of him. If he hit 30 points, that would surprise me - jcragcrumple
"We will absolutely not trade Girgensons"
"He's part of our core for sure"
"Potential Captain"
Just some of the quotes I got blasted with after we drafted Girgs & I suggested we should use him as a trade piece bc he'll never be a 20goal scorer in the NHL
All that said...
he's a decent bottom 6 player
At least until he gets passed by some of the youngsters coming up
My guess is he gets something like 1.35mil per season for 2 years

True...
OV wasn't comfortable at RW
And I'm not sure how comfortable or not Okposo would be switching
I'm just assuming it could be a possibility
Besides all that... is it even necessary?
Does Pominville need to be in the top6 over Pouliot or one a youngster?
Idk how much of a dropoff there'd be
And even if there was, Pommer on the 3rd line would just give us more potential scoring depth
