Someone tell Vantel that his boy Tkachuk is growing on me. If he keeps playing this way. Could be a real nice consolation prize at 3OA for someone in 2018 draft

For those who think Russia is still a superpower that has any real influence on the world...

Putin is being propped up by the mobsters, money launders, and crooked billionaires. The minute they stop making obscene amounts of money Putin loses his support.

War is expensive. Why would a mobster want to get engaged in an international war? That would be very bad for business.

Dahlin sure.

Hughes haven't seen him much. Size may be a problem. He will get drafted but I doubt top 5. See how he does at Michigan this season.

Fair enough. Hard to say if he'll grow much more. His younger brother Jack is about same size but playing forward and they are throwing McDavid and Marner labels about him. Don't know if their father Jim played a role there as Leaf's player development director.

Yeah brother is slightly larger already and plays forward. Forward a lot easier to get away with being a bit smaller.

In their last major conflict, Russia got their asses handed to them by a bunch of peasants who lived in caves. Bombing Syrians doesn't count.

China has money and troop numbers but when was the last time they were in a major conflict, Korea? Americans, Russians, English, and to some extent the French have been studying the art and management of war for a very, very long time. And at time they still lose. China is totally unproven and when it comes down to managing a long, sustained conflict my bet is that China collapses like a house of cards.

Greetings everyone. Firstly, I need to thank Makita for stepping up and trying to keep things organized and on topic in these forums for the years he was here. He did so because he cared about this place and valued the discourse with fellow hockey fans-Canucks and all others.

We all agree Carol is a gem. She writes everyday, is a professional, and one of our top writers here.

Since we began 13 years ago, it has always been the threads that keep the site vibrant. It has always been fascinating to me that anonymous people can communicate online with each other, nay develop real relationships--good, bad or indifferent.

I'm sorry there is so much negativity on these threads right now. We are here to enjoy and discuss hockey, but human nature does take over eventually. I have a pretty good grasp on what is occurring. There will be a new Mod to help here. In the meantime it will be me.
