Posturing to the Russians who were not massing their troops against NATO... this is America's bullpoop not Europe's. The EU sounds like they have had enough of it as well with these new sanctions that are killing it's members to appease the Yanks who are now a sinking empire desperate to knock their rivals back a couple of decades by way of war.

The troops being stationed there are the equivalent of nothing, Russia's claim that this is aggressive is either paranoia or they think their military is actually a joke. These troops shouldn't be a threat to them at all, hell, Romania is getting 4 RAF Typhoons and their ground crew, is that a threat to Russia?

I remember smashing the play station controler to pieces when playing Advanced Risk with some friends.... 27 losing rolls in a row... I had all the armies... was dominating... and I'm supposed to believe that was purely random rolls? Smash smash smash...

there's a "Risk" video game?

Everyone has their own angle and interests. Russia is an energy supplier of fossil fuels. EU needs energy. Atomic is controversial with high density populations. Renewable is growing but still not enough. USA wants to export liquid natural gas. All the politics plays a role in the security and sanctions.

I wouldn't call 7,000 troops in 5 countries "amassing" and the only reason those troops are there is because of what the Russians did in Ukraine, maybe if there was some NATO troops in Ukraine they would still have Crimea. NATO is the push back.

That's an extremely one sided story of what happened in Ukraine. The democratically elected gov there was overthrown with an illegal coup backed by the Americans. I can give you a link of the recordings of Victoria Nuland(State Department) telling the coup leaders who the Americans want as the prime minister... and telling them no to their own choice if you want? They wanted former boxer Vitali Klitschko who was a *moderate* but the Americans wanted their nationalist extremist puppet instead. This was a case of colour change in terms of a country under Russia's influence being overthrown and taken over by NATO influence. Once this happened, the Russian population in the east refused to recognise the *illegal gov* and they should have every right to... they already had a *democratically elected government* in power. Once it was overthrown... that made Ukraine a failed state technically... Crimeans are 80% Russian... they would rather return to Russia like before 1954 when they were given to Ukraine by the Soviet leader who just happened to be...Ukrainian...

Ever hear of the THAAD system that was just installed in Romania? This is serious provocation. The system is duel use... and against agreements... and on Russia's border... and no different than the Cuban Missile Crisis...

US certainly has sure seemed to have been trying to start a war with russia. Trump seems to want it.
Odd though how russia has been said to have meddled in the election in favor of trump, then trump visits Putin, then Trump seems to want a war. Likely for reasons of $ generation.

Maybe they should just "build a wall"

Trump may want a war later on to wag the dog. But Russia to him is no adversary. He has never said or done anything against Putin.

Oh I know what went on in Ukraine, what ever the US did it did not give the Russians the right to annex Crimea.

THAAD is a defensive weapon system and very different from the offensive weapons that were being installed in Cuba.

There is no publicly available information that THAAD can be operated as an offensive system.

UN is for peace peaking missions not NATO. Military movement is for posturing. The conflicts have gone into cyber assaults and it's beyond espionage now. For example, Estonia's entire system was shut down for days by Putin.

He just signed off on those illegal sanctions. That was pretty big. Putin is raging over it. Putin just kicked out over 70 American diplomats in response... first time ever... things are at an all time low... this Putin Trump collusion narrative is nothing but bullpoop. Let it go... you don't need that to reject Trump... there is plenty enough everywhere else in this mess. If there was meddling, what ever. USA has meddled in 81 elections since the CIA was formed... Every single thing Russia is accused of, USA is 50x more guilty. Time to put the focus more on America if these things Russia's accused of are to be taken seriously then.

It's true. It's a no no...but Crimea did have a referendum to join Russia though... it's hard to tell these people they can't do that because it's illegal after their elected government was overthrown by Nationalists who then immediately had.... wait for it... *an illegal election*. This is the point I try and get across to people... all these things Crimeans can't do are allowed to happen in western Ukraine... it's hypocritical and never mentioned in the news. Most people think Crimeans were invaded and are under Russia's heel... not at all... this is what they want and decided on. They were Ukrainians before the coup... not separatists until after...

It's worth mentioning that there is no civil war in Crimea and the population is protected. Not a single shot fired in all of this... unlike Donetsk where civilians are shelled by Gov every night in their homes and are not under Russia's protection. Untited States would invade a country like Grenada over protecting dozens of American's... yet Russia has no right to defend millions of ethnic Russians who have been facing ethnic hostility since the coup... it's just ridiculous really. Totally hypocritical.

Sure everything went great in Crimea except for the non Russians who couldn't get fair market value for their property when they decided to leave after harassment and death threats.

It is... just like Russia's system is. Officially it's not... just to get around the missile agreements... only difference is that Russia hasn't tried to deploy something like this anywhere but Russia. THAAD showing up on their border is a pretty big deal and a far cry from "a few Tornados".

Put it this way, every time one of America's rivals tests a system with just some of THAADS capabilities... USA immediately cries about it being a offensive weapon, agreements being broken and even attacks the country over it... or sanctions... that pretty much says it all...

I hear ya... yesterday I listened to a guy go on and on how Obama didn't go to war.. that is a Republican thing... well, what about Libya... exact same thing as Bush's Iraq. Lies were told at the UN... then an invasion.... then the admitting they got the intel wrong... making it an accidental invasion that worked out good for mankind... followed by ISIS and or Al-Qaeda....lol....
