Anyone notice that Pu, Mittlestadt, UPL and Davidsson were all scratches yesterday? UPL was backup, not scratched, but thought it was odd that every Sabres prospect sat out on the same day.

Supposedly mulling over NHL and KHL options. Looks to be a very team friendly offer. Few teams are looking at him, including, supposedly, Sabres.

Sabres will be better but still in tough to make it.

Montreal will make it on team defense and Price. NYI will not be as bad, Tampa will b better. Florida should bounce back a bit. Even Carolina looks to be improved. The Leafs had injury luck last year but they also had horrible playoff luck and threw away a LOT of points in the first 5 weeks of the season on blown leads. I figure them for the 8th spot again. New Jersey will be improved and Boston about the same. The only real drop off I see is Ottawa, and maybe Toronto. I don't think that is enough to get the Sabres into a playoff spot.

This is pretty fair analysis. I would argue that the Sabres have a better chance because we had "injury unluck" last year. Jack missed 21, RoR missed 10, Okposo missed 17, Larsson missed 46...none of those guys are oft-injured players and outside of Larsson, they're the best we have. I would hope to gain ground in the standings simply through health. That coupled with an improved defense and, hopefully, a decent coach...I think we'll be in the running.

Only time will tell. If Jack can take the next step and we can get some better coaching, we'll be right in the thick of things. We won't be at the top of the standings for sure, but won't be a cellar dweller either.

Youre defence went theough a huge transition this year and added at least 1 top four D...jury still out on the rest but who knows untill the games start how they will fit in on the team,the system etc....could end up being a strength if it all works out.

Completely fair. Lots of unknowns with guys like Antipin or even Beau. Housley is a question mark still, although probably will be an improvement to Disco.

They do every year. They're the biggest tease team out there. Excellent underlying numbers, but somehow find ways to lose every night.

We'll see. The way the Sabres played when they were allowed to open it up i.e. 3rd period down by 2, they were very, very good, but that's also with no pressure. I'm optimistic that the coach won't smother them.
