Good deal for Philly. Not for the Habs though. - Thehabsfan93
It just makes no sense from the Flyers perspective for where there at. Now if he said the deal included one of Giroux or Vorecek whom both are on long, long term deals....I might rap my head around that one. As well from MTL's side I can't see them dealing a productive point producer for a decent prospect. They are going to struggle to score this year if anything.....trading a top froward doesn't help that. |

It just doesn't make sense....I would be fine with it considering all the d prospects, but unless the Flyers are going with 5 forward lines this year, not sure it makes any sense. |

This rumor makes sense how...? Habs trade away young D for young scroring forward. Then trade in prime scoring forward for young D? The win now Habs and win soon Flyers wouldn't even think about it for a second let alone launch a rumor. |

the Flyers have 4 forwards who should be starting on an NHL roster.
Who the (frank) is sanhiem? is that the next poliout? What is this trade and who are the pens fans masquerading as flyers fans?
65pt goal scorer on a super bargain 4.5M cap hit? no thanks, better to suck til McCrosby-David 2.0 comes along. |

IMHO this is insane.
You don't trade a prospect like Sanheim and a draft pick. That is too high a price for a one player return. If the Flyers were getting a 1st and Pacioretty...I might not bristle so much. But again, this feels like someone in Montreal is floating rumors to see if anyone bites. - wbon22
Please calm down sir. Sanheim is a good prospect, nothing more. If Montreal makes that offer to Philly, Hextall says yes right way, rebuilding or not. |

I disagree with you. I don't think Hextall would make this trade, let alone say yes immediately. |

First of all, any Flyer fan that wouldn't pull the trigger on this deal in a heartbeat is a complete and utter moron.
- Dollars2Donuts
There is a lot of irony here considering that you've made a moronic statement. I would not pull the trigger on that deal, and in my opinion, Hextall wouldn't either. |

No, he wouldn't. Among other reasons, by the time the Flyers are ready to contend again, Pacioretty will be a UFA . Provorov 's next contract (which will be at the same time) is going to be an expensive one on the cap. Simmonds, if re-signed rather than traded, will be on an expensive deal right in line with Pacioretty's.
Nothing about this rumor fits in with Hextall has been adamant about doing. I have been there in person when Hextall has been very direct --- on quite a few occasions, including this year- - about the types of trades he will not make. He has never deviated from that plan. He has said that philosophy might change ONLY when he feels they are one player away from making a win-now move justifiable. The Flyers aren't at that point yet.
Also, on the reverse.side, it's not the right deal for the Habs at present. |

This deal is about as likely as Vegas winning the Cup in 2018

Well first off I don't see the deal fitting Mtl's needs (Scoring ) and Max is one of the top goal scores over the last five seasons 156 goals (5th overall in that time period)
I can not see MTL willing to lose that production (even if he slows a little) without replacing it with an NHL forward with at least 20 goal pedigre Even if the d man is a good prospect. |

I mean look, if Bergevin wants to be fired he should make this trade IMMEDIATELY. |
|
|
|
I put this trade into NHL '17 and Montreal replied that they had this thing called a "trading block" and that the value was nowhere near what they were willing to part with.
Seems legit. |

Seriously? MTL just lost Radulov and the only other player to score 20+ goals was Paul Byron which could have been an anomaly. His 22 goals was a far distance from Pac's 35.
They move Pac, scoring is going to be a MAJOR issue. |

No way. Best contract in hockey and consistent 65 pt guy. Need more than a prospect who is highly regarded, but having a difficult time cracking a weak Flyers D corps. Imo, anyways.
Brandon Smillie
Respectfully, John Tavares has the best contract in hockey. Of course, it won't be after this season but then neither will Max's in a couple. |
