Sam Reinhart will never "blow up".

He is who he is. He will more than likely produce some more. But he aint turning into a top 5 scorer like the Sedin's were.

He's been given the ice time, linemates and PP time. He has the brains, he knows where to be.

He's not getting faster, and he's not turning into a dangler or sniper over night.

He's going to be that consistent 45-55 point guy (unless scoring goes up) who's solid at both ends.

If anything, it's the defense that will come along

My position is that saying he never will, especially coming from a "stats" guy makes no sense whatsoever when a not insignificant amount of players in his position have indeed gone from decent, solid if unspectacular first few seasons to being superstars. And even some of the best of them didn't start at 18, the Sedins were 20 in their rookie season, JVR was 20 in his, Hedman was 19, Murray was 20, Bobby Ryan was 20, Heatley was 21, and Spezza was 19 and even started that year in the AHL(ahh the years where you could send a 19 year old CHL player to the AHL).

Almost no one gets PPG anymore. Only a few guys a year do it. It's like scoring 50 goals, it used to happen pretty frequently, now other than Ovechkin it rarely happens.

Look at what all the "having a hockey take" means in August....just re-read every blog since April to get your fill of inane takes, endless rehashing of old nonsense, and adults acting like 15 year-olds.

I come here this time of year for the snappy put-downs, culinary adventures, the occasional boob pics, fashion advice and Gerbe's constant self-incrimination.

Dude posts wrestling gifs and he hasn't shut up about it in months but a Hitler gif of him screaming Nahtzee in the style of Yahtzee is wonderful to him and even though I made a big stink of it, I'm not on here every day pissing an moaning about it or his habitual abuse, telling people to kill themselves or to die.

Thank god Maximum Signal hasn't been here this summer, I really might have punched myself in the face until I died if I had to read his childish ramblings, name dropping and bragging.

Most of us can twat out, but we keep it clean and fun, for the most part and sometimes we argue too much about stupid stuff (and are polarized on politics big time) but that's fine, no one's ever going to agree on anything past loving the Sabres. But some people come here just to be miserable and it is just plain sad.

Most guys that take a few years when they start out on line 3 or 4, got benched a few times, and didnt get PP time until year 3 or 4.

Reinhart was given the opportunities right away. For 2 straight years, with Eichel.

What will be the difference in year 3 that would be the catalyst for blowing up?

He's on a development curve to get 50-55 points this year. I don't think he'll ever score under 50 a year again unless he misses time for injury. He's sneaky good and basically scored 20 goals in both of his seasons. He's never gonna wow you with his razzle dazzle, but he can do everything well

I think that's a stretch. Where is he going to get them? He's not going to take Risto's spot on the PP.

Anything over 25 is gravy. Risto is the only Sabres D to score over 20 points last year. McCabe had exactly 20. But in 76 games. Franson would've but he had 19 points in 68 games.

He'll likely be on the 3rd pair to start the season, so probably 15 or so games where he's only going to get like 13 minutes of ice time, maybe a minute or 2 on the 2nd PP. So maybe 15 total minutes is going to be hard to really get anything going for a solid chunk of the season.

I think most people including myself are just mad that Sam is not even close to the best player in his draft class and he's just a good player and not core impact players like the rest
