There's 3 things I know in this world.

Reinhart will be fine. Not good. Not bad. Fine.
Mittelstadt will be fine. Not good. Not bad. Fine.
The Bills will only win 3 games, ever.

We all suck and I have stats to prove it.

He responded to be bringing up the Wings as a target

There's definitely still some teams that have to make moves
I'm more than ok if we try to take advantage

Only thing that you could try is take on Franzen's deal and buy him out but that'll cost them almost $3.3 in 18/19 and 19/20 on the cap. Not sure that's the way to go.

I've seen stats that prove Franson>Ristolainen

Edit: Despite talking about Franzen, my point is relevant.

Positive

They came together in that playoff run in 15-16.

Kessel played with Malkin mostly before that

- sbroads24

I thought Malkin got hurt though & missed like the last 20games or whatever
That's why they spread out into the 3 line scoring thing & then kept it when Malkin got healthy again for the playoffs

Regardless...
what about the rest of my post?

If it can work for 25games, can't it work for 82?

If Kessel can get enough icetime on the 3rd line,
& not affect Crosby or Malkin's icetime...
then can't we make it work with Sam on line 3 without ROR & Jack's icetime suffering like u suggested?

And doesn't a 3rd line with Sam at center,
have much more scoring potential than one with Larsson at 3C?
That's really all I'm trying to say

No thanks
Way overpaid, poor in his own end, wouldn't be on PP1 here
Kinda reminds me of Shattenkirk in those respects

Fine player
But not a great fit for us

I'd love to get Athanasiou
He could blow up on a line with Jack
Or look really nice on a 3rd line with Sam or Nynader, etc

Gorges is easier to move bc it's the last year of his contract
We'll see what happens

Do u have an opinion on bringing in Vanek &/or Jagr?
I'm all for it

At the very least,
we trade either for a 3rd (maybe more) at the deadline

LW
Kane
Pouliot
Moulson
DeLo
Larsson
Girgs
Josefson

RW
Okposo
Skunk
Pommer
Larsson
Grigs

Where do you fit either one in unless moves are made? Like Moulson to Vegas.......... (one can hope)

That's the problem. If an Amerk or two are ready to join the team, you're forcing them to stay down for the year other than injury callups. Best case scenario, go into camp, see how some of the kids do...maybe have one of those guys here on a camp invite and see how it plays out. Trade activity picks up around camp, especially for the few teams that need to get under the camp before the start of the season. The LTIR players can't be designated until the season starts, which means they need to start the season under the cap.

We kind of did that in the way we acquired Scandella by taking Pommer
I know they got Ennis, but that's 1 year...
and Pommer's cap hit is for 2

I totally agree with you though

There's teams in Cap trouble we should try to take advantage of
Detroit of all teams has issues right now
I doubt they'd move him...
but the speed & potential scoring of Anthasiou would look nice in our top9

- jdfitz77

Not sure if this was said, but Pomminvilles cap hit is for 2 years and so is Ennis. Both signed for 2 more years. So we just ended up with the higher salary to do that.

Right now, this is how I see our lineup...

Kane-Eichel-Reinhart
_____-O'Reilly-Okposo
Pouliot-Larsson-Pominville
Josefson-Girgensons-Moulson
Deslauriers

To bring in both...
Kane-Eichel-JAGR
VANEK-O'Reilly-Okposo
Pouliot-Reinhart-Pominville
Girgensons-Larsson-Moulson
Josefson
*deslauries as the 14th forward or sent to AHL

Just one of them could easily fit though

My bad
I thought Ennis was only 1 more

So it's only like a 2mil total savings for Minny then

And a better/more productive player. I'll pay 1 mil for that, especially since this season it's insignificant.

He was correcting my initial point about how much extra Cap we took on in the trade
I thought it was more significant, bc Ennis had only 1 year left
But since they each have 2,
Minny isn't getting as much Cap relief as I thought

LOOK AT THAT
someone on these boards admitting when they were wrong!
Hahaha

factoring all the pieces and guessing Foligno gets 2.25-2.5ish it saved them 2.5-2.75ish per

His last contract was 2.25. I'm wondering if he can push 3 in his next deal?

I thought I read that he is pushing a little bit. It was only natural that they signed Nino and Granlund first, but I think his extension is getting held up for this exact reason.

I say we give Nylander a shot. And the perfect line is with O'Reilly an Okposo

Rodrigues Eichel Pominville
Nylander ROR Okposo
Kane Reinhart Pouliot
Girgensons Larson Fasching

Scandella Risto
McCabe Bogo
Bealieau Antipin

Lehner

3 scoring lines. 1 grindy line. Coach can mix and match throughout the game like Pittsburgh and Edmonton do with their skill players. Eichel has a shooter in Pommer and a smart savy winger with familiarity in ERod. Nylander is protected by two veteran two-way players who can play off Nylander's offensive skill set. Reinhart is a distributor. Kane is a sniper with speed. Poo has speed and can bring some offense and two-way play as well. 4th line will be hard for anyone to play against. And can pitch in some points as well.

Earn it. You know Bots won't let him play here until he proves without a doubt he can play his roll at an NHL level.

Wasn't Guentzel the perfect example of that? He ended up getting recalled in like Dec/Jan. Wasn't quite ready to start the season. He was the one that Botts kept using as an example in his first interviews with the media after being hired here.

Totally agree
If none of the kids look ready,
there should still be a Vet we can sign to play on the 3rd line
Or trade for one for a fairly cheap price

Yep
We could easily see a similar scenario with Nylander
Or any of the young guys
