The last 14 seasons, the AFC Championship game included one of either Brady, Manning, or Roethlisberger.
Only one time in the past 14 seasons did the Super Bowl not include one of those quaterbacks. Joe Flacco in 2012. - rmiethaner
I don't know of a single person that doesn't think that you absolutely need a QB to win in the NFL, so I'm not entirely sure where you're going with that. |

The Browns did it right IMO
They did the tear down, but were patient not to draft any QB (Like Wentz, who I think is very mediocre)
They stockpiled cap space and picks, and when they draft or find their QB, he will walk in to a bevy of weapons, and cap space to get weapons. - sbroads24
It's ok, they'll just draft Tim Couch again. |

Just something I found interesting.
I don't think that the Bills will tank, and it is not 100% guaranteed that the USC QB will be leaving school after this season. |

BECAUSE WHEN IT MATTERED,
The Offense didn't come through... did it?
Nope
But hang on a sec...
I'll get back to you on this absolutely ridiculous notion that "we were good enough to make the playoffs" dumba$$ statement - jdfitz77
So when an offense literally is playing from behind every game because the defense couldn't stop the run or couldn't stop a pass or couldn't even get the ball back this is the offense's fault?
10th in the league in scoring
2004...the last time the Bills were in the top 10 in the league in scoring the only 2 times during the playoff drought they were that high
But please tell me how it was the offense's fault they didn't make the playoffs |

HERE YA GO STRIPES...
Last year...
8-8 Baltimore lost to NYJ & Cinci
If only they won those games, they could've made the playoffs
9-7 Tennessee lost to JAX, HOU & SD
If only they won ONE of those games, they could've made the playoffs
8-8 Indianapolis lost to JAC & HOU twice
If only they won ONE of those games, they could've made the playoffs
9-7 Denver lost to SD
If only they won that ONE game, they could've made the playoffs
8-7-1 Washington lost to DET, ARZ, CAR & tied CIN
If only they won ONE of those games, they could've made the playoffs
7-9 Philadelphia lost to CIN & DETLast year...
If only they won those games, they could've made the playoffs
8-8 Minnesota lost to CHI & DET twice
If only they won ONE of those games, they could've made the playoffs
9-7 Tampa lost to ARZ, NO, CAR & STL
If only they won ONE of those games, they could've made the playoffs
7-9 New Orleans lost to CAR & DET
If only they won those games, they could've made the playoffs
7-8-1 Arizona lost to BUF, STL, NO & CAR
If only they won two of those games, they could've made the playoffs
SEE HOW EASY IT IT TO PRETEND WE COULDVE MADE THE PLAYOFFS
LOTS OF TEAM DO EVERY FREAKING YEAR
The Bills would've had to beat the Jets twice, and Miami once...
maybe twice depending on the tiebreaker
We were NOT good enough to make the playoffs
We were a mediocre 7-9 for a reason

I never even said it was the offenses fault
But again...
the OFFENSE had chances...
LOTS OF THEM
late in games to drive down & score a TD and they
DID NOT DO IT
so was the loss the "fault" of the offense?
Idk... that's semantics
The point is that they weren't good enough to actually WIN the game
Correct, or not?
In every single one of those 6 losses by 7 or less the offense had at least 1 shot to drive down & score a TD and they did not do it
That's the bottom line
And yes...
if we had our "Luck" then we'd have had a better chance to do so

The only team that scored more points that the Bills last year of those names above is Arizona which the Bills beat last year
Again the reason they didn't make the playoffs last year was the defense was AWFUL

It is not semantics.
It's fact.
The offense was good enough to make the playoffs last year
My original post if you want to go back and read was the reason the Bills didn't make the playoffs was because the defense was HOT GARBAGE.
The offense (which last I checked included the QB) was good enough last year to make the playoffs.
So because the offense couldn't score in the last drive of the game it's their fault? How about the other 55 minutes or so where the defense was awful?

Exactly.
The offense this year should be better than last years.
If the defense can pick up the 4-3 which they should have been anyway I don't see this team being worse than last year. |

I hope, I'm hesitant to say yes with the new coaching staff.
Not that Ryan was good, but it might take time to adjust |

Even if it's not better and it's the same would you not take 10th in the league in scoring?
Believe me I understand the need and importance of having a franchise QB and I am not sitting here saying Tyrod is that can't miss franchise guy, but I do believe he is good enough to get this team in the playoffs and maybe even win a round or two.

Once again for the reading impared...
I NEVER SAID OT WAS THE OFFENSE'S FAULT
However,
It's completely FACTUAL (not opinion) that when the offense had chances to drive down & score a TD in the 6 games we lost by 7 or less...
THEY DID NOT DO IT
Don't u think getting a Franchise QB in this coming draft would help that?
Of course it would
So just stop
YOUR EXACT WORDS
"We were good enough to make the playoffs last year"
No, no we were not
I shattered that point with how 10 other teams could've said that too
Would it help if the defense was better?
Of course
Is it their "fault" we didn't win games last year?
Ok, fine... it was
But our TEAM was NOT good enough to make the playoffs
And EVERYONE (except you apparently) knows that the best way to consistently have a good team is to get a Franchise QB
Would we have work to do once we get him?
Of course
But without a Franchose QB...
we are a hell of a lot less likely to become a team like Pats, Steelers, etc etc
So the MOST IMPORTANT thing we can/should do...
is try to get that QB

If that's the "goal" then I think u are missing the point

Not just a "playoff team"
