Vantel, do you mind staying on target. It's really hard to talk about pages of boredom when you keep talking about people talking about pages of boredom.

He has more of a chance this year of playing in the NHL over Gaudette Pettersson or Gadjovich .

Ask me next summer for a new list

Your team is doing it the right way. Don't be upset if he starts the year in the AHL. He won't be there long.
- mochoson

Boeser has as much chance of going to the AHL as Horvat did. Maybe for a 4 game conditioning stint but that will be the extent of his time in the AHL.

From that entire list, JV actually has the most NHL games played and the most points scored in the NHL.

Granted that will change.

- manvanfan

Yes it will. Though not sure if we were basing prospect rankings on talent, potential or NHL readiness. If it's all I'd say:

BB
OJ
EP
Demko
Goldoblin
JV
Dahlen
Guadette
Gadjovich
Lockwood
Lind
Molino
Subban
Brisebois
MacEwen
Rathbone
Pedan
Chatfield
McEneny
Palmu
Zhukenov

Of note. Does Rodin qualify as prospect with only a couple NHL games or is he too old even though not in his prime years yet? Tree played 3/4 of a season but he's not with team so is he outside talent that can make a future return? They are players that can add value to the team not on the roster so in that sense have a prospective role.

The conversation started from thecanuckway prospect rankings so far. They haven't got into the top 9 yet. Don't know how they will turn out.

Our TCW staff ranked all Canucks prospects. The criteria: whatever each writer thinks is important. Current position in the organization, talent, potential, and chance of NHL success. All prospects under 24 years of age were considered as long as they did not spend significant time in the NHL.

I found a stat that the Canucks weren't so bad at. SHGA Tied for 14-19 at 6. NJ and DAL were at 12 and 11.

It's official any player with an NHL contract, on NHL registry, no matter where they play can't got to Olympics. So maybe that's why EP won't sign so he can try for a WJC and Olympics in same season? Tree & Zhukenov saw it coming too lol. Wonder if team USA dips back to NCAA like 1980 dream gold medal. Could Guadette and Lockwood make the cut?!?

Now Gaunce will have to sign an AHL contract and hold out so he can be eligible to Captain Team Canada. WD is already pissed that Vey, Chaput and Megna can't join him. But has hope Skille does.

I wonder if any city in Eastern Europe/Asia will bother putting in a bid for the Winter Olympics after this. Why would they bother if the NHL won't guarantee participation or give the excuse about not making any money off of their brand through it. The only sports that people tend to pay money to watch during the Winter Olympics are the men's hockey and the figure skating events. Most winter sports are niche anyways, and you hardly ever see coverage of any of the skiing or speed skating or what have you when it isn't Olympic year. The Olympics are so expensive to put on when you factor in all the facilities/amenities/basic infrastructure needed that unless you're a first world nation, you can't afford to put it on without some expectation that you can at least break even financially and without NHL participation, that's unlikely in the extreme.

I'm pretty sure he has an out clause. Could be sooner.
- VanHockeyGuy

have you heard that? Any idea of what the out-clause is in particular?

The olympics survived for years without Canada or pros for hockey.
Idgaf if they have to again tbh.
Summer Olympics dumped softball.
IOC is corrupt & there is no doubting that.

Yeah without Hockey having best attend then only premier event is Figure skating. It could cost Host Wetern Countries even more gate revenue losing that Hockey attendance or ticket hike. But you are right they probably save on infrastructure costs as the other countries wouldn't have the stadiums to host hockey.

Nope, but the only good they do is bring sports like skiing, speed skating and other such sports that don't have a lot of visibility TV-wise or a whole lot of money exposure. It'd be a shame if they stopped having Winter Olympic games because they don't make any money without the NHL participating.

Winter nations give all sports a ton of TV recognition.
US TV only if Americans r in the event.
Idc if the winter olympics don't make money.
Its not about money its about competition & not NHL's problem.
Athletes & sports federations have made doping a mainstay.

Btw do u tune into non American broadcasts?

In terms of notable names besides Matt Duchene (who some teams view as a second liner and not a top liner now) being available, there really aren’t any that spring to mind.

I would say Matt Duchene is a top line forward.

All KHL contracts have a buy out option where player can pay the salary term remaining. Usually an NHL signing bonus includes that amount. Salaries are notoriously low in the KHL. The real money is in bonuses. Not to mention endorsements. But it's assumed that players with NHL rights include opt out clauses as well because they chose to go to KHL. Their agents include those clauses to keep pressure on high bonuses and endorsements in remaining too.
