We could use a guy like him. - VanHockeyGuy
He's a special teams player, not a big fan, his skating sucks. Draisaitl is the real deal. |

Who are you talking about? I see two pretty talented guys and a bunch of second tier players, good ones, but still second tier. Playoffs, sure, maybe. You need those top tier guys to win a Cup and I don't see a lot of them around. - LeftCoaster
I was talking about Bo, Gran, Sven, Stetcher, Hutton, and I agree that I don't think they're good enough to win a cup. But even though i don't think they are, doesn't mean they won't. I don't think you NEED a Sid, Malkin, McD, Leon, type team to win anymore. HOWEVER, its been that way for the past couple years so obviously the argument is in your favor. But I see things changing, Ottawa, Anaheim, Nash, could've easily won this past year and that would've been different. For example, the Sens were a bounce away from the SCF, with Turris and Hoffman as their "Elite" C's, why is it impossible to think Bo, Petterson won't be capable of doing the same? In the Sens example, the difference is we lack a Karlson, but the Pens just proved you can win without an Elite Dman. There's so many variables and its getting harder to predict what type of team with what type of players you need to win a cup. |

He's 21, didn't have a bad season. You also might be able to trade for him,
Draisaitl...not so much. |

40% of his points were scored on the PP. If I remember correctly. |

Yes there certainly is, I'm still of the opinion you need highend players to even have a chance. |

The Rangers will be putting your theory to the test once again this season. Some real good players throughout the lineup with McDonaugh being the closest they have to elite now than Lundqvist's play has declined |

How does that explain Ottawa? Other than Karlson of course?
What about Anaheim? Are Getzclaf and Perry considered High end? |

A 40 point career player is a little more then a stop gap. Probably a good 3rd line pick up if have the cap space and no one better. Would provide experience. |

Projecting when the Canucks will make the playoffs is like determining a lotto win in the draft. Brooks said it right there are so many variables. Lefty is being conservative based on accumulation of talent by draft.
The variables like player development, trades and UFA signings are unknown factors that tip these turnarounds. Not to mention pillars like coaching, goaltending and the it factor of team chemistry. That said a couple lotto wins and things get real.

Karlsson is arguably the best dman in the league
Getzlaf is a high end #1 C. Lindholm is a legit #1 dman. |

Right and Isles fans would prefer having Sutter over Bailey.
If Turris is available he would be better and could tip retiring the Sedins.
Then EP and Guadette could be brought in for sheltered minutes on bottom lines and learn the NHL basics before moving up the scoring/impact food chain core. |

No thanks to Turris, I dont see where he fits with the money/term he would be asking as a UFA. His stats vs Western Conference doesnt have me impressed or sold that he would live up to a contract larger than Bo's |

There is little to no doubt on this. Sometimes his defence is a bit suspect but his offence covers that in spades. |
