Good day,

New blog is musing on why the Canucks are in uncharted territory for them as they work on Bo Horvat's new contract, as well as some thoughts on Vancouver's other recent first-rounders.

No thanks to Turris, I dont see where he fits with the money/term he would be asking as a UFA. His stats vs Western Conference doesnt have me impressed or sold that he would live up to a contract larger than Bo's

He's not a panacea to 1C but best support solution for Bo to retire Sedins. Then move in kids with sheltered exposure. Not sure about contract though what do you see?

If he makes it to July 1, I see $6.5+ for 6+ years. If we are talking Bo at $5-5.5m for 5-6 years, that would mean youre paying Turris to be your 1C.

If youre paying Turris to be your 1C for the next 6+ years, what are you doing with Bo, Pettersson, Gaudette, 2018 pick (if Center) during that span? For me, timing isnt right to dip into the higher end UFA market, particularly when its second or third tier quality

Turris seems to be as much a 1C as Brendan Morrisson was when he was here.

Very appropriate comparison IMO

I liked Morrison too. and he did play well with Bert and Naslund.

the salary suggestions for Turris just seem out of whack.

If I was the owner and the team had a 73 million dollar cap hit (after everyone is signed) to finish at the bottom of the league, I'd seriously be questioning my General Manager for answers!!

Ask MG why he saddled the next GM with NMC's & NTC's.
Cup runs & the mess he left is on MG. Takes time to dismantle a team.
Idk what else u could expect from JB tbh?
Fire him so the next GM takes all the credit?
