I agree they will go with 8 defense, but McEneny will be one of them, as they won't risk losing him on waivers. Teams like New Jersey Detroit etc are desperate for defenseman.
Biega will be waived.
Juolevi might just get his chance this year. I am OK with that provided he earns it. Hutton appears more and more to be odd-man out.

He's an undrafted 23/24yro AHL player with a long shot to make NHL. Great fortitude story that has potential as a shut down D. While it's good to have depth prospects like him he's not sought after and many a team have his type in their system. If there was legit interest by other teams he could have gone UFA and signed with them.

He is only 23 and just coming off ELC. He showed huge improvement last season and has worked his way up the ranks from ECHL to top.relied upon defenseman for Green last season. I think he will be in the mix for a spot, if they carry 8 defensemen. Rather have him than Biega as he has more upside, plays both sides and is more of a 2 way defender.

He has stated he likes the right side. I badly want to see different players on this team, enough of the Biega types. Let's try these guys who are close to nhl ready. McEneny and Pedan should at least get a trial and if they can't make the cut then ahl for them.

Wiercioch is a good signing. Should be a nice 6/7 defenseman. Hope he plays more.like his 1st couple seasons in league and not like the last 2 in Ottawa. I have no idea how he played in Colorado, but they suck worse than we do so I give him a pass on last season.

True though there is this to consider:

Ferguson would be the first RMU alumni if he made the NHL. He went to Penguins development camp. He's undrafted but is keen on maximizing options with contending team that has shallow prospect pool and winger needs.

Sikura says he will sign with Hawks who drafted him. They need him and have winger needs.


Sheehy is younger of three and could have sought a contract this summer. But chose to go back for junior year and be captain. So maybe he'll do a Molino and look for a team to sign and burn a year come 2018 Spring.

Canucks greatest needs are top line players, Center depth and top pairing D. So far they have 3 prospects who might fill those needs plus Guadette for center depth.

Hawks are going to be poopty soon enough. None of these players will probably be a top 6 player. Always need depth though.
