Where will you then find top 4 D? Not as if they hit the market very often.
- manvanfan

I think it is Edler MDZ Hutton down the left side for two more years until OJ is ready unless Holm or Weircioch made big strides.

Yeah I don't see Hutton as odd man out either. Edler has two more years and I think Hutton is till developing . We are probably sitting here making daily trades and JB is back at the office thinking D is set for a bit.

I can see Gudbrandson as odd man out if he doesn't have a better year because of his cost.

- VANTEL

Guddy has to be good or else he is just a bit more vocal Luca Sbisa..

Edler and Tanev have been the most consistent over the last while, even if Edler is declining. I can't see either traded if the club still wants to appear competitive.

Unless Guds has a hell of a season and is extended. I would expect him to be gone.

Edler has 2 more years left. That allows OJ to play in Europe for a year then in the AHL or NHL behind him until the TDL and then Edler is traded. It also allows Hutton to get around 130 games of experience. Doubling his games played.

It also allows Rasmus Dahlin half a year in the AHL or not playing top minutes in the NHL.

Flyers/Stars fan here who thinks Canucks will be much better than people give them credit for.

Sedin-Sedin-Gagner
Baerstchi-Horvat-Erikksson
Granlund-Sutter-Goldobin
Burmistrov-Chaput-Megna
-Dorsett, Boucher

MDZ-Tanev
Edler-Stecher
Hutton-Gudbranson
-Wiercioch

How'd I do Canuck bros?

edit: Before anyone rips my head off, that's the best way to balance out your D. MDZ is a solid dman, but I wouldn't stick him with anyone else on your roster other than Gudbranson or Tanev.

That's my thought pretty much. Unless someone shows they can really outshine someone. Then may see a trade.

Gagner goes from 4th line and PP time to 1st line? Unlikely.

Boeser to the minors?

Hutton and Guds was a train wreck that should probably never be tried again.

How long do you"shelter" young players? According to capfriendly we have Stecher and Boeser on ELC nhl roster. I sure hope we have another player or 2 on ELC in lineup.
Fine to have depth guys like Megna/Chaput, but they need to be in minors and emergency call ups. Need to see players such as Goldobin and Virtanen playing games at this level. Provided they earn it of course

- Reubenkincade

Chatfield might be good enough and fingers crossed for Brisebois

I hopersonally you are right. I liked the Brisebois pick when Benning chose him and after watching Chatfield play, after signing him, I was impressed. Both will be solid, but non-flashy players.

That's actually not a bad list. I wouldn't really consider Forsling a prospect anymore personally. He has a good shot at a roster spot this season and played more games in the NHL this year than the AHL. Even if he was, he's a really good player. If he's a teams 2nd best prospect, that team is doing something right.

Lists like these put out by the NHL are usually terrible no matter what team you're talking about.

Again, Chicago has a ridiculous amount of young players already making contributions.

Panik (26)
Kempny (26)
Kero (25)
Oesterle (25)
Jurco (24)
Murphy (24)
Forsberg (24)
Hinostroza (23)
Pokka (23)*******
Hartman (22)
Dauphin(22)
Hayden (22)
Schmaltz (21)
Forsling (21)

Every single player above played at least a few games in the NHL this past season with the exception of Pokka who they are still very high on.

Iacopelli (23) is another good prospect who will player his first full pro-season this year. Then there is of course DeBrincat who's still 19.

Chicago is killing it because they're still attracting good players to their team through FA. They got Darren Raddysh (21) on an AHL deal and recruited Jan Rutta (27).

That's 5 years away. 3 years of under 700,000 on an ELC deal. 2 years of that probably spent in the AHL.

Not sure if Toronto agrees with that. As much as I do not like Toronto, they are an entertaining team to watch. Also, Virtanen I don't think qualifies as a rookie.

If you only go with 1 or 2 rookies per year it could take 10 years minimum to turn over roster to youth.
Sprinkling the youth/rookies into the lineup throughout the season would be fine imo.

Well you're paying them combined over $6m, so they should probably figure it out.

Boeser in AHL to start, yes.

Gagner literally played all around the Columbus line-up this past year. Sedins would be hands own the most talented players he's every played with in his career. Very under-rated and well rounded player. Also helps properly balance out top 9.

Doing the same as Van fans used to do list every prospect in the system.

Chicago lost 5 of their top 15 scorers.

Tomas Jurco had 1 goal in 31 games last season.

Brendan Gaunce at the same rate as Dauphin last year. You probably have a fringe 4th liner on your hands.

Schmaltz, Hartman, Hayden are probably the only 3 players on the list, I would consider decent prospects anymore

I think 2018 Bo Granlund and Boeser would be a decent second line . The challenge is to find a decent first line. You could have 20 mil in space to help solve that.

It would take 10 years, if there wasn't trades and free agents.
TML rookies have been seasoning for a while now.
Connor Brown 23
Nikita Zaitsev 25
Zach Hyman 25
Nikita Soshnikov 23

MAtthews 19
Marner 20
Nylander 21

Nylander year and a half in the AHL
Marner back to junior for a year.
Matthews an elite NHL ready player (rare these days)
