It's liberating when you stop wanting your team to draft the likes of Dubois, Glass, Crouse, Logan Brown, Virtanen, Dylan Strome et all.

Didn't you read the blog? Virt is very "liberated".

I am sure that when you go to the Devils blog they will be happy to hear how good of a goalie you think Schneider is.

Shall we go back to talking about how much Horvat should be paid or how about another lengthy discussion on the bright future of Brendan Gaunce?

Benning has been linked to E Kane trades for three years but the price was too high . Next year it is salary only , nothing going back the other way.

Benning has also been mentioned on kicking tires on Stamkos and PK Subban.
Benning also tried to trade up the first over all pick when he first arrived.

You can't assume he won't be in on paying a top free agent or making a trade for a top center.

It possibly won't occur but his history shows he will be checking it out.

GM's can't just sit back and rely only on the draft to rebuild

Let's put that one down to a missed opportunity. Regardless of if he'll be a fine 4th liner or not

They can for 70% of the rebuild. 25% for free agents sound about right ( that's an issue for Canadian teams though)

Isn't that what we're doing with Horvat, because if he doesn't grow beyond a 20 goal 50 point forward, then.....

I'm going to go with the likelyhood that Schneider could have handled more and continued to perform, you can go with the fact that Horvat is going to improve (but not to the point he'll be a bonafide 1C).... deal?

- PensWin87

did we still lose the trade? we still got shafted?

sht, we over this now? I'll go back to making supper.

Vancouver Squamish and Whistler were all listed at 275

The scale is out of 300, and 275 is considered hazardous.

The % is debatable the point is can't only do one. The problem is tanking theory doesn't want anything else but drafting even in the face of the lotto odds.

you lost me right away.

If a team has 2 goalies that are capable starters, surely that team's gm will receive calls for both. or maybe I am assuming too much? If Schneider was, or appeared, as good as Carey Price? wouldn't other teams be throwing all kinds of offers the Canucks way?

I heard rumours of an Oiler offer too. who knows for sure how that went down? kind of like rumours of the Leafs making offers for Luongo and then wanting to change the deal at the last minute. eat salary, whatever.

as it turned out, I will stand by the deal as being a win-win, and if you are saying it isn't a win for NJ, that is okay from my end.

It's interesting to look at the historical BC fire atlas on the governments wildfire site. Large BC forest fires (man made or lightning caused) are reoccurring in the same locations season after season after season. Yet we never really seem prepared for it season after season after season.

It's getting to the point where wild fires are as predictable in certain BC locations as tornados are in central US.

You jest over short term results. Draft picks like JV have the talent just need longer development maturing to what it takes to be a pro in the NHL.

Yes, nothing like a Pens fan coming into a canuck forum telling us that the canucks screwed up on the schneider/horvat trade. Of all the canuck moves over the past seasons that is the one he chooses to criticize?

His point that the Canucks could have gotten more for Schneider like a prospect maybe could make sense at the time of the trade when Bo was thought of as a 3C ceiling player. But sheesh give it up now it worked out for both teams.

It's fitting we got him to drop the WE label on talking Canucks. I don't care where he lives or for how long, or that he loved Mario, he's declared a Pens fan which adds insult to injury. You get the WE label sticking through decades of futility and heartache. No awards for saying I loved Neely so became a Bruins fan, or fell for the Flower chose the Habs or local hot shot Sakic for Nords/Avs. No you give your nod of respect and hold the Canuck label through thick and thin and that's how you get the right to say WE.
