IMO he lacks the hockey sense to thrive on his own. If he ever makes it onto a scoring line, he will be the complimentary piece but my guess is bottom 6
- WhiteLie

That's a fair take and probably he will always be a complimentary piece not a driver which is fine for a power forward. Can give you top 6/9 impact with his talent. JV's talent is there he's just a kid who hasn't figured out what it takes to be a pro and the development side is the draw back from where he was picked.

Those European kids that were picked after and have done better as skill players just put it together earlier because they had a good and ready head to make it as a pro. JV hasn't shown that yet and when he does the trash talk will cease. His impact could be just as good or even better then them since his type of player is more rare.

Right why preferring to sign Bailey over Turris as a retire the Sedins solution doesn't need hold water. They both can play make but Turris is the better center and grittier. I'd still like to know what people think they are worth contract wise?
- Nuck4U

Crazy to think everybody so high on Turris yet Bo was only 3 points behind on a pooptier team. Bo took 200 more faceoffs then Turris did.

Turris 6 years at 6.25

If Turris makes it to UFA, he will get 6+ years and probably more than $6.5 AAV, by comparison he will be getting more than Horvat.

Also in the spirit of Carol's reranking, former 3rd overall Turris has been outscored by our own Sam Gagner and is up 83 points on Brandon Sutter, I would rather Henrik return on a 1-year deal to buy the prospects development time than commit term to Turris

- WhiteLie

Turris in all likelihood will resign in Ottawa. The Islanders may be in cap trouble with JT's contract coming up, that's why I threw Baileys name out there.

Both would probably be at loathe to sign here anyway.

Sure... resign the twins, at least they like it here.

Thanks Carol.

Looking forward to seeing Virtanen crush the pass admirer Nylander. . His physicality will be appreciated this season.

Yes I know.....he needs to earn it.

- Reubenkincade

JV will get his shot under Travis Green. Whether he stays or not is up to JV himself.

I'd rather Bailey than Turris.

But I'm not sure we should be in any rush to sign another centre to a long term contract in addition to what Bo may sign and with Sutter having a bunch of years remaining.

Hank is an okay option for now on a year to year basis. I just hope Daniel gets his act together cause I'm not expecting one to sign without the other. would love just Hank back tho.

He is a 3rd tier C at best, never even been an all star and will get paid well above his worth

I only see Turris as support for Bo to take pressure off and push the Sedins into retirement. If he's available he and Kane would would be good adds to bring in the top prospects for sheltered minutes. Change the style of team. Contract seems reasonable especially compared to paying older LE 6x6.

I through out Baileys name a week ago. They just threw it back.
I like the idea of adding him as a middle six LW if room is available. If term and cost is not non sense. 600 plus NHL games is almost double what Sven and granny have combined. With a number of young Centers coming soon enough.

nylander ehlers Larkin and pastrnak all taken after virtanin llooolllllooollll oh well 6th overall picks rarely work out anyways right? LOL
- Thunder_daddy

Nylander carried by a 1OA lucky pick. Say no more
Ehlers on a non-playoff team that underachieves.
Larkin on a train wreck team.
Pastrnak was a solid find.👍

3 of those teams in a weak division.

Need to build through the draft, not free-agency. Benning can and did sign stop-gap free agents. Once we have some nice talent accumulated and playing at nhl, then we should fill in with needed free agents.
- Reubenkincade

Yes you build through draft but you don't close door on young UFA's that can help turn the tide with those prospects. It's not purely stop gap. If available take them can't wait for unknown future if that opportunity ever comes up.

My only concern on signing a C is term. Sedin's are the only ones that will come (stay) on 1 year deals. I like Bailey as a Sutter replacement, if they can do something to that effect I would be very happy

Bailey took 15 faceoffs last season. He's not a Center anymore.

I read that. I doubt it. They will allow him to get his scoring legs in Utica. I hope.

Typically you pay your best player more than the support player, unless youre prepared to pay Bo $6.5-7 AAV starting this year?

You suggested signing Turris and Kane, who are arguably 1st line players. I would call that building through free-agency.

I'll argue that they are both 2nd line players at best.

He might not like it, but where else are you going to find a 45-55 point center who will take a 1 year deal?

There are a lot of Subban types propping up among new waive of D out there. So his value is looking better. Whether that means he's got a role on Canucks or another team is open to debate.

Like the the 2nd line look especially if Gadjovich raises his game to Lucic like impact. JV will come along just how far is TBD. I'd add E.Kane into the mix just to bulk up and skill retain top 9. It would give EP more room to do his thing.

- Nuck4U

Subban has no value. If an undersized dman cant make the worst team in the league then why would a better team pay a decent asset for his rights? He is probably worth a 4th round pick so we should keep him and hope he improves in Utica
