I never got why so many people gushed about that guy when he was here and when he left.
- Scoob

He was here when the team emerged from 2007. He was part of the party pack that brought winning hockey back to the city.

He was also the first to go when

Well, he scored a goal in his first game, and then scored the OT winner in one of his first games with the Flyers by pulling "the Forsberg." He was young, was a good secondary scorer, played like he was 8 feet tall, and was a good looking young guy.

Are you going to need stitches?

'Cause you know who likes stitches?

Otherwise, it's not a gash, it's a scratch.

- mayorofangrytown

Not stitches, not deep enough. So sure, scratch. Still pretty gnarly.

I remember going to Meet the Flyers in 2007. Briere, Gagne, and Knuble were on stage when Upshall got introduced. When Steve Coates said his name, all the girls started screaming and Knuble put up his hands with and "OMG UPSHALL!" mock. I have a feeling he wasn't very liked in the locker room by some of the older players.

At minimum Claude Giroux can be a solid second line center on any team in the league. At the max, he can still center on a top line for a team lacking a number one center. Who is St Louis' number one center or Montreal's? By drafting Patrick, you can keep G or trade G. Either way is fine.

Can you imagine Hextall if it became known that a "Flyer player" was texting Ek about player personnel rumors like Ek claims to be getting from the Sabres?

I would imagine there would be full on goalie stick slashing to the back of said players legs......

- MBFlyerfan

What kind of NHL player would actually pass info/rumors on to him or anyone else? And if it's true, what kind of ____ would publicly announce that an active player is feeding him info/rumors?

That's probably my issue with him - younger and better looking than me.

I bet the older guys found it pretty funny. It's always like that with packs of men, you gotta kick the kids around a bit because they're young, more attractive to the young girls and inexperienced at some level. Gotta keep them grounded.

Just put a nice 6" long gash on my arm drilling a hole in a sheet metal box when it kicked on me. Yay my day!

Off-topic, but from tsn:

Tiger Woods has agreed to plead guilty to reckless driving and will enter a diversion program that will allow him to have his record wiped clean if he completes the program, a prosecutor said Wednesday.

I'm glad that you're allowed to have a DUI but face no fines and have nothing on your record as long as you attend some classes.

Edit: It carries a $250 fine.

"It's because a contingent of fans have turned on the current Flyers captain after his stats have declined in each of the last two seasons"

But that's our right as a fan. We come to watch him earn his millions which I will never see in my life time. i pay for tickets and for packages. I don't know Claude personally so none of it is personal. But if he isn't doing what is needed on the ice then i do have the right to turn on the player. Sports are a "what have you done for me lately" business.

My first obligation is to the team. With free agency and player movement, I see them all as mercenaries. If Giroux has another declining season, am I supposed to keep living on what he did in the past?
-J35Bacher

As fans we have a right to be unhappy with their performance sure but there is definitely a line that is constantly crossed on a daily basis and to some extent unfair bias as well. Look at most players in the big markets. A lot of these players get unfairly trashed. Kessel is a great example, the guy is treated worse than garbage and there is no justifiable reason why. As much as I hate Pittsburgh given the fact they are our mortal enemy, I am glad Kessel has won a cup after leaving T.O. Phaneuf is another guy. As some other people are, I am worried G is declining but the guy has been steller for the Flyers and despite the Decline he still had good numbers despite the drop.

If I made the laws, a DUI (a true DUI, not the under-21 rule) would carry a one year loss of license and 7 days jail time minimum. A second offense would mean you can never drive again and 3 months in jail minimum.
