Jumping the gun on the season recaps, but things really fell apart just before the break in late February, and the first three games back.
You lose to STL and Chicago, then break, then lose to the Avs, Coyotes and Preds. The season is hanging by a thread and at that point, morale is obviously terrible and players are pissed. From there they lose 7 of 10. Finish the season 3-4
So is it the break, or was the team so mentally fragile that the losses to the Avs and Coyotes just broke their backs. The western roadtrip obviously didn't help them coming off those losses.
last 6 games of the season they scored 8 goals. So they clearly quit. Hopefully fixing the coach fixes the quitting
Edit: and changing the captain |

Besides his 2014 draft, and trading 100 2015 picks, I don't have an issue with his picks.
Guhle
Borgen
Asplund
Fitzgerald
Pu
All seem like solid post 1st round picks - sbroads24
Agree...
but he REALLY Fd up those 2nd round picks in 2014
We could have much better depth right now |

The season went to hell on the back to back games against the Bruins. 12/29 and 12/31. Going into that series we were actually in a position to break into the top 8 in the ECF. Then we spit the bit, and everything began to fall to poop. |

yes, he is a 3-4 lb
bills run a 4-3 now
then again I would not be shocked if they run some 3-4 plays, and ragland makes an impact for the bills this fall
he is a beast |

The cracks started there but they were very much within striking distance before the post-break losses against the avs and coyotes |

I want JT
Peace ROR - GERBE!!!75PTS
The thing with trading for Tavares,
is that it's only happening if he WANTS to be here
And if that's the case...
why not just wait & sign him as a UFA?
Then we keep O'Reilly AND get JT
Not to be greedy...
but I felt the same way about a Stamkos trade
Tavares is gonna pick where he wants to go...
whether it's as a UFA, or when he agrees to a sign & trade |

We aren't in cap purgatory, but if you keep RoR's 7.5 AND sign JT...you're franked royally once Eichel's new contract starts. I think we would have to know that we could ship of Moulson and Bogo before something like that was feasible. |

Karabacek will be ok
Cornel
- homiedclown
I don't see Karabacek ever being more than a 4th liner at best
We passed on really good defensive prospects that draft
And in the previous draft when we took Hurley...
I didn't get that pick either
If Guhle & Borgen work out,
we'll still be in good shape
But if not...
we could be talking about upgrading the defense every damn year |

I know it's all fan fiction in all honesty, but keeping JT, ROR and Eichel... That's 30 million on 3 players. Chicago can't even do it with 2. |

Karabacek Is a bust also - GERBE!!!75PTS
He's a late 2nd rounder, so to label him a bust at this point might be a bit unfair. However, this isn't your worst hockey take in the past week.
This year is very important for him. I think everyone would like to see him step up his game. He has a ton of talent but seems slow to process the game.

First game against the bruins we jump to a 2-0 lead in the first period, chowds come back to square it up in the second, and then with less than 4 minutes left the score 2 more to win 4 - 2. The team leaves the ice disappointed feeling we let 2 points get away, and gave up one point that we really shouldn't have.
Then in Buffalo, we play the chowds even but give up 3 goals to our 1, and know we just aren't ready.
We (frank)ed around and tried to talk ourselves into it for another 5 or 6 weeks, but those two games were the deathknell.

If we can sign JT next offseason,
then we do what we have to to make room
Moulson should be tradable bc it's his last year
But even if we have to add picks to get ppl to take him & Bogosian...
it'll still be less than it would cost to trade for Tavares
So instead of ROR, Kane, 1st
Sign Tavares as a UFA
Trade Moulson + 3rd to wherever
Trade Bogosian + 2nd to wherever
Something like that is how we could make it work with the Cap |

Before the loss to the avs, the record was 26-25-10 and so close. The wheels came off after that |
