They can really thank a lotto ball, same as Pittsburgh and toronto - VANTEL
Ya getting your hands on a great young player can make all the difference. The Canucks have been building for 47 years and they've only ever had one player of that ilk.
They made a great pick in Draisaitl which has really helped. Some other decent picks as well like Klefbom and Nurse not to mention using players like Hall to get more of what they need....asset management. Not popular with James Tanner lol but it's all made a big difference. |

Oilers have been gifted a lot. Four first over all picks makes it easy to find trade partners and attract high end free agents. Then they get gifts like Puljujarvi and Draisaitl instead of Dubois and Renhart |

Yes some teams seem to be lucky for whatever reason? Whenever a generational kid comes along both the Oilers and Penguins are always at the front of the line?
Ten Stanley Cups between them |

EDM should make the conference final but I think that's as far as they go this coming season. |

Granlund without a doubt. More versatile, can play all 3 forward positions and the PK.

pretty sure it is. Granlund plays either wing, was on a line with Baer at one point. Two of the only (very ffew) guys that provided offence last year aren't going to be moved IMO. |

So this year you're thinking that we draft 4ov instead off 5th? Interesting.... |

Eventually the balls will fall the Canucks way, just hope there's a great kid there waiting for them.
This year I think they were fortunate that they picked 5th because Pettersson is gonna be the best center taken in the draft!! |

With Vancouver's first over all pick we select Fail Yakupov
Vegas line up does look better than ours |

He would be my first pick
D next Wilde . I wasn't thrilled by Dahlin in the summer showcase. Go with the big American
Third: Play maker winger Veleno
Tkachuk Pettersson Horvat Gaudette |

It really wasn't that long, that's how long they sucked but they only became good when they A) put Chiarelli in charge B) drafted McDavid and Draisaitl. So essentially three years. - LeftCoaster
That's nonsense. Their years of being embarrassingly bad are what gave Chiarelli the pieces to play with. It's not like he was starting from scratch. It'll probably be the same with the Canucks when they are good again. |
