He is also a older and coming off a career season...he wasn't putting up 70+ points at the age of 22
Today the list is fair, in a couple years my money would be on JG to be a far superior player. His first 3 seasons in the NHL he has more points than Marchand during that same time period. (the best of Marchands career) - flashfire
I like the way Marchand plays, but yeah, Johnny is way more talented.

Minus a cup & Hart votes last season.
Just sayin...

Yeah, but Marchand aslo had seasons of 42 and 60 points while Gaudreau was putting up 64 and 78.
Marchand's great, but last season was way beyond what his numbers historically have been. At 29 years old, it seems fair to say that last year was an exception, not the rule.

The number that counts....
1 and a very significant part of winning that cup.
Marcel Dionne had bushels of points & won what?

Based on points I agree. Playoff performance? That's where Marchand shines! Look what he did to the Sisters, that was classic old time playoff hockey!
I agree! He has some growing to do to become a better playoff player! But so do most of the Flames! 2 series in 3 years is not enough! - K-man25
*3 series
But absolutely, Johnny needs to learn how to be more effective in the playoffs. I think last year could be a very valuable learning experience for the Flames (the 1st trip had more of a "just glad to be here" kind of feeling).
I'm expecting them to be much more focused and ready to play this time around (assuming they make it)

JG needs to man up and push back. Love the skill, but playoffs is a different game and you gotta push back.
JG is pretty one dimensional. BM (fitting that these are his initials) has a way more rounded game and can also get down and dirty.
One is a Lady Bing and one is..........not!
I love how Marchand plays and we cannot sit and female dog about Marchand and praise Tkachuk......or can we! - DuranDuran
If it was just a matter of Marchand crossing the line every now and then I wouldn't have a problem with him. But he's made a habit of it (even last year he couldn't help himself).
If Tkachuk ever makes a habit of slew-footing guys in the corner and spearing guys in the nuts then I would be calling him on it too.

I was laughing at the fool me 4 times remark.
Nothing is impossible with The Don at the helm.
Might be able to fleece Foote out of Gaborik or Brown. - shoreorrpark
One of my best friends is a Bruins fan. We usually just chirp each others teams, but I actually admitted that I thought Pastrnak was a really good player. He just shook his head and said "great, now they're going to trade him for a bag of pucks too"
I think this sums up Sweeney/Chia's thought process when they make a trade
"Dougie Hamilton is Dougie Hamilton, but draft picks can be anything. They could even be a Dougie Hamilton. You know how much we need a player like that!"

No sorry, not to you. Someone else had posted asking if I actually believed that $#!+... presumably with respect to Eks post. So I was replying to that but it seems they promptly deleted their post.

Sorry 3! I hope they're learning. Most teams need to learn how to win in the playoffs before a long run. We can all hope that the Flames are doing this.
I do agree this team, like most, only goes as far as the goaltending takes them. Let's think that after 4 years, BT has finally solved this. Wasn't my first choice but the longer I sit with Mike as our #1 more confident I feel. Just a quick note though, my feelings mean sh!t!

He does make things interesting. I'd just hate to see some guy get hurt because of something like a slew-foot. Been on the receiving end of a few of those and they aren't fun
He's a good player, he shouldn't have to resort to doing that poop IMO.
Serious question: How are those picks that you guys got in the Hamilton trade turning out? I haven't really been keeping track, did we miss out on anything special? Too early to say yet?

Pretty early to tell.
They should all play eventually and look good so far, but we probably should have kept the boat.
Just not sure if Dougie wanted to be here.
He seems happy playing on a great team with his poopty brother so im happy for him.
