He was a PPG in College which is pretty good. He was Captain.
Vesey 27 points
Stecher 24 points
Caggiula 18 points.

The most sought after College players from last season. Not exactly high end but FREE

- manvanfan

Vesey's 16 goals, 27 points, per nearly a full season is tremendous production for a first year, NCAA free agent. Stecher and Cagguila the same. If Kerfoot gives half of what Vesey does, pushes for a spot on the 4th, you have successfully signed a NCAA free agent.

No real risk only something to gain.

that's my thought process. We have contract space available, and no one bats an eye when we sign CHL undrafted free agents, I would say NCAA free agents, who were chosen through the draft, have a little more credibility than those who weren't. + NCAA > CHL anyway.

I don't think he is suited to a 4th line roll. It would probably be better for him to play in the AHL for a season and be a call up if playing well.

Innus & gunn has a variety of original limited production beers. Often they make them in barrels previously used to make scotch, rum etc for an interesting flavor

Jimmy Vessey spent 4 years in NCAA, was a 3rd round draft pick of NSH, and in his first year as pro, had 16 goals, that is fantastic production for a first year player... In comparison, Horvat had 13 goals in his first year, which again, was excellent production. What are you expecting from a 1st year player...

If we are speaking about Stecher specifically, 24 points as a rookie UFA d-man, on an offensively challenged defensive team, that again is great production.

Bo started on the 4th line.. Bo is the perfect example to use when trying to covet any free agent forward IMO. It's hard to pitch a coveted NCAA free agent with the promise that he will play in the AHL. I think you need to push the idea of him playing 4th line limited minutes in his first year, otherwise they are going to look elsewhere. NCAA I think are looking for an opportunity in the big leagues, as opposed to adjustment and developing in the minors, I would assume anyway.

You grouped Stetcher in the 'tremendous production' group when talking about NCAA players. Stetcher could barely tread water last season and wouldn't have played for the Canucks except for the appalling lack of depth on the team.

despite his defensive struggles, that are given for a first year rookie, 24 points as an undrafted free agent is nothing to be upset about. What people should be more concerned with is the fact that Stecher was the best offensive D-man on the team, what does that say as a whole of our offensive output from our back end...

Bo was also 2 inches taller and 20 lbs heavier. Plays a grittier game.

I honestly don't have a really good opinion or view on Kerfoot other than the videos/stats I have seen on him. Playing style, to me, would be a complete guess.

A two-way forward playmaker. I haven't seen the word "dynamic" in any description.

An intelligent puck possession playmaking center who can play on the wing that has good passing ability whether stationary or at speed. Uses the give and go well and can draw defenders to create time and space for his line-mates. Is a quick darting skater with the agility to dodge and roll off defenders. He defensive game has matured once his defensive habits such as an active stick, head on a swivel, taking correct angles became consistent. He lacks size and strength to compete and win one on one battles for pucks and body position so he must use his hockey sense and skating to compensate. He is beginning to shoot with greater frequency which makes him less predictable with the puck in the offensive zone.
Based on those three reports, it’s clear that Kerfoot has the potential to be a good offensive player in the AHL, with perhaps the chance to play some games in the NHL.

After the last 2 years I have zero faith in the lottery.

We will get a good player again top 5.

I agree position isn't as important next summer.

- VanHockeyGuy

absolutely. Esp this past lottery when we see several teams jump up into high picks and the ones slotted for high picks get pushed away.

What a screwed up system

Yeah. A year in the AHL wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. A lot of college players now realize spending a year in the AHL isn't so bad. Even Butcher has said he doesn't need an assured NHL spot. He wants long term team success.

Because Pronman is the "prospect guru". Self appointed i'm guessing.

Everyone has their opinions. He really doesn't like Petersson

I think Vancouver had 6 players on his top 100 prospects.

None in the top 10
