Yeah you cant really increase compensation here, it just sucks.

What the NCAA needs to do is just allow for kids to sign their ELCs and still hold their eligibility. And the NHL needs to allow them ELCs to slide until they formally leave the NCAA

Will never be done. NCAA won't budge on ametuer status. Haven't done it for football, so it definitely won't do it for hockey

Mike Chambers of the Denver Post is reporting that Will Butcher will not be signing with the Avalanche. However, he will be visiting the Sabres, the Golden Knight and the Devils. The Devils need Will Butcher and they have openings for him on their roster.

oh I know NCAA wont let that happen but it really is the easiest way to solve this issue.

Everyone wins, NHL teams and NCAA Players but it opens up a bad slipperly slope for the other sports

well butcher is quite the story. no one really believed in him being drafed in the 5th round. but he gambled and now has all the cards. good for this kid he worked hard and hopefully he will sign with us. I personally don't see why he would tho.

Clearly he wants to play as soon as possible judging by the teams he is visiting. NJ might actually be the most desirable of the three. Vegas is just starting out, no history, no idea how it will go there. Buffalo is in a similar situation as the Devils as far as the rebuild but NJ does have the New York City appeal and playing in a top division in the league. Who knows, maybe he will sign in NJ. A guy can only hope.
