He's actually terrible. Sub 40% terrible, but that's not why he plays center. He plays center because he's allowed to use the entire ice. On the wing he'd only be allowed to used 1/3 to half at most. And he'd be expected to be jamming along the boards using his energy to fight for the puck instead of coming in late and fishing the puck out. - Wetbandit1
We've debated this before. You posted a chart that showed the league leaders in controlled zone entries or something and Eichel was near the top. I think that is an excellent gauge of offensive prowess, given the other players that were on the chart. I believe a fair share of the players, if not the majority, on that chart were wingers though. You can't say with certainty that Eichel would be less effective offensively if he played wing. He could be more. We can't have a team of facilitators. We need more finishers and I think Eichel should be focusing on scoring.
Man, I would love to get Kessel. No D on the roster, not named Bogo or Gorges, can be included in the deal. Nor ROR, Eichel or Kane. Samsonite would hurt, but ok. Any prospect not named Mittelstadt is in play. Not sure that's enough to motivate the Pens. Getting some decent young players and cap relief probably isn't enough.
