Pass. Not a good fit for what Canucks have now and in the system.
- Nuck4U

agreed.

i'm not sure why you would want brown. he'll be in his 30's by the time you guys are good again.

DD off the books soon.
Moulson a cap dump.
Mittelstadt is the target.
Nylander hasn't been spectacular & Sven is more ready now.
More cap to resign Eichel next year.

- Nighthawk

Real question, because I cannot recall of a time, but when has a team traded their first round pick in the same off season as drafting that player? Maybe Lindros?

As for the Buffalo proposal, Nylander+Mittlestadt is like trading their 2016+2017 top 10 picks for Sven (acquired for a 2nd rounder at last transaction), and Tanev. Not a good move for a team that still doesnt have a core good enough to make the playoffs yet

They are not but resigning Eichel Kane Reinhart will cost.
- Nighthawk

They won't be signing Kane as he's coming here.

I don't think we are as far off as people think. Its easy to see us as an easy opponent now, cause we are one, but once the Sedin's retire, and in a few years away from now, our good prospects will come to play and we should be in decent shape. We have a semi decent prospect pool, one that has developed dramatically from the poophole one that Gillis left us with, so I am not overly concerned about us 4 or 5 years from now. I would assume it will be at least that long until we are seriously competitive anyway #realisticexpectations

The leafs only have less options because their prospects have graduated to the big leagues. More or less a testament to their good drafting under LL (along with their very early round selections for Matthews and Marner) that have allowed them to expedite their rebuild pretty quickly.

I can see MDZ or Gudbrandson if he struggles traded at TDL but thats it. I think Tanev will be kept to develop OJ
- VANTEL

Yeah that makes sense. I hope MDZ has a good rebound season and gets flipped at TDL. He would have Hansen type plus value if that works out given having another year left on contract. Prefer Guddy to stay at reasonable contract because they will need him for some time on RD as a 4/5.

I wasn't aware the sabres were in cap trouble ...
- Redmile247

We are trading Tanev, the Sedins, baertchi and Pedan. The sabres are taking them whether they want them or not. Keep up Red

i'm not sure why you guys aren't in full tank mode for dahlin(sp). sounds like a #1 dmen that will expedite the rebuild.

I am more interested in a number 1 defenseman in the Mold of a Hedman or Ekblad and believe mcIsaac is that guy.

Yes their better prospects are in the NHL now. That's how it works when you have shipped everyone else off. I wouldn't call sucking forever and a lotto win good drafting. Just luck of the draw that expedited it. If Canucks had won and drafted Mathews and they slipped to 4th, as the odds dictate, it would be a whole different tune. But that's how it goes with luck. Accumulation of picks with some signings and trades will turn things around sooner then later. A lotto win in 2018. Well that would be a difference maker for sure.
