who says we aren't?

not sure if the term on the gagner and mdz signing are consistent with that.

also, not sure why you guys haven't moved tanev.

seems like these few moves may stop you from completely bottoming out this year.

Yes their better prospects are in the NHL now. That's how it works when you have shipped everyone else off. I wouldn't call sucking forever and a lotto win good drafting. Just luck of the draw that expedited it. If Canucks had won and drafted Mathews and they slipped to 4th, as the odds dictate, it would be a whole different tune. But that's how it goes and accumulation of picks with some signings and trades will turn things around sooner then later. A lotto win in 2018. Well that would be a difference maker for sure.

Good Drafting is Good Drafting. Matthews over Laine was still a drafting decision. Marner and Nylander were not top 3 picks. Give credit where credit is due, even if they are the leafs and you dislike them. They have done well in their time under LL, there is no denying that.

If it's truly a good morning then you will trade Tanev somewhere

signing free agents to cap friendly deals opens up the door to potentially moving them for picks/prospects later. I can't answer why Tanev is not traded, but I assume the reason is the return was never enough. And those additions of Gagner, Del Zotto, Burmistrov and Weircoch do not make us much better than before.

agreed. but it's potentially enough to keep you ahead of 3-4 teams.

timing is everything on the tanks. look at edmonton. until they hit a a big prize, their picks got them nowhere.

great year for a tank. potentially a missed opportunity.

totally get your point, but because of EDM, tanking is never garunteed, and it shows with our draft selection position the last few years. If all went to plan, we would have had top 3 picks the last 2 years, but that's the nature of the lottery. A bottom 5 finish is all we need, our cupboards are starting to fill now, its just a waiting game at this point.

No sorry no credit for LL for winning the lotto. Kadri, Reilly etc have played big roles in turnaround. That team hasn't proven anything just like the Avs didn't when they accumulated some top picks and lotto win a few years ago. They could just as easily miss the playoffs this season given the Bolts will rebound. The excitement was over blown because they went from a team that was like watching paint dry to one that can score. Accumulating picks from years of sucking helped. But the lotto win was what did it. You know that and why I gave you the alternate sliding door scenario.

Anyway enough about them. The real jive is what Canuck will shine at the young stars tournament?

Per Larry Brooks - Canucks have offered Kerfoot a Contract, and it is believed that Alexander Kerfoot is "mulling" over it. It is expected that he could sign today.

The team went from dead last in the league to making the playoffs the following season. It's a hell of a good start to their rebuild...

As for the Canuck's young stars tournament, meh. Its pretty safe to say the only one who legitimately has a shot as pushing for the club is Juolevi, but its a reach. We know with all the free agent signings that it's not going to be a year where a kid pushes for a spot, so it's really just going to be a tournament for some of these kids to showcase. I will still watch for sure though.

yep pretty much. I think Utica needs all the help it can get at forward at this point though.

Utica will be interesting with Holm, Chatfield and Brisebois. As far as forwards go, they lost a few of their leading goal scorers last year, so I am not sure how that is going to look. IF Goldobin, Virtanen, Molino, Kerfoot, MacEwen all play in Utica, it might make things interesting.

Even when I'm not involved in whatever's going on, you got your mind set on me, you got your mind set on me. But it's gonna take money, a whole lot a spending money, it's gonna take plenty of money, to do it right child.

You may hate the Leafs and refuse to give them any credit where credit is due, but there's no denying how impressive the turnaround has been... Matthews lottery or not. The list of what LL and Co have accomplished and done positively since being here is long, never mind pushing the Caps to six one goal games, five of which went to OT with a squad FULL of rookies.

Would you trade the Canucks' current roster, management/coaching group, prospects and cap situation for the Leafs' future?...

You're damn right you would! Admit it.

Well BB will be there so it's more then OJ for a shot at camp. I thought the point of the tournament was to showcase future depth or talent. So from Dahlen to MacEwen, Molino Chatfield etc. will all be fun to watch as they could develop into having a call up this season too.

Also, side note. I gave you the Avs example of a team that rose from the mat to playoffs and now is in shambles as it proved nothing from their stint of excitement. Rebuilds require balance in all areas to succeed.

then you dont know us. We love (and over value) our players & prospects. Cassels has a better future than Matthews and you can only have Tanev if you send Nylander, Reilly and a first

That would be great to add for Comets. They really need an offensive center to help develop those winger prospects.
