Well BB will be there so it's more then OJ for a shot at camp. I thought the point of the tournament was to showcase future depth or talent. So from Dahlen to MacEwen, Molino Chatfield etc. will all be fun to watch as they could develop into having a call up this season too.
Also, side note. I gave you the Avs example of a team that rose from the mat to playoffs and now is in shambles as it proved nothing from their stint of excitement. Rebuilds require balance in all areas to succeed. - Nuck4U
rebuilds require adequate management and commitment to rebuilding. The Canucks and Avs lacked those previously. TOR lacked that until LL stepped in. TOR went full rebuild and acquired 8 thousand second round picks. Again, I think you need to give credit where credit is due. BB to me, is a lock to make the team, so not much there. Dahlen, IMO, won't be playing in the AHL this season, and has his mind set on going back to SWE. I could be wrong |

Of course not.
Would you admit to the positive strides that a team is making whom you've relished in watching fail for so long and have no idea how to come to terms it while your envy is so apparent to all? |

it doesn't show a lack of respect/loyalty to your team to admit that a different team, or rival team, has done something better or done something right. I am not a leafs fan, but I can appreciate what they have done, the same way I can appreciate what CGY has done. I won't however give EDM any props for what they have done, because they are just a bunch of Richard smacks |

You may hate the Leafs and refuse to give them any credit where credit is due, but there's no denying how impressive the turnaround has been... Matthews lottery or not. The list of what LL and Co have accomplished and done positively since being here is long, never mind pushing the Caps to six one goal games, five of which went to OT with a squad FULL of rookies.
Would you trade the Canucks' current roster, management/coaching group, prospects and cap situation for the Leafs' future?...
You're damn right you would! Admit it. - As_I_See_It
No sorry not interested expect for Mathews and Reilly. But enjoy the overblown ride and see Avs for how things can turn out. |

that's funny cause I can appreciate the moves the Oilers made. But the above didn't answer his question. |

Cant really compare Avs and Leafs.
The Av's one year of success they had: Duchene, Landeskog, Mackinnon, O'Reilly, Stastny, Barrie, Johnson, McGinn, Talbot, etc.
Since then they have lost O'Reilly and Stastny for basically nothing, their depth has got worse and the team has regressed. The Leafs are building, adding complimentary pieces, complete opposite of Sakic's wait and see approach |

So evasive.
Classic avoidance.
Deflecting and skirting around the issue and question.
No need to admit anything, kiddo, you already have. |

Good luck with your high see Avs, Sabers, etc on how easy a crash can come. - Nuck4U
he asked me a question? If you are referring to this:
"Would you admit to the positive strides that a team is making whom you've relished in watching fail for so long and have no idea how to come to terms it while your envy is so apparent to all? "
This was not directed at me, and was sarcastically aimed at you by him lol. He did not require me to answer. |

Why don't you take this to the Leaf's thread. |

The Hockey news: "Auston Matthews is the 8th best player in the NHL"
1) McDavid
2) Crosby
3) malkin
4) Kucherov
5) Benn
6) Kane
7) Karlsson
8) Hedman
9) Stamkos
10) Ovehckin
Not should he not be in the top 10, he shouldn't even be in the top 20 |

As much as I hate to admit it, Auston Matthews is a hell of a player. However, Do I think a player with 1 year under his belt deserve to be named to any list of the top 10 current players? No absolutely not. I don't have any doubts he will be top 10 though.

Sure you can. The Laffs only have had the one year of success too. It's a possibility and lesson on how a surge by young guns can fizzle. A JVR dumping could be a Stastny domino too. Nothing is for sure and if injuries occur see Bolts rise fall and ?? as well. Right now they got Mathews and Reilly to build around and that's great. Just like Avs had/have Mackinnon and Barrie. See the similarities. But if Laffs make the right moves and have more success with development they can have staying power. |

You can say that about every team...
Are the Pens the same without Sid? No.
Are the Oil the same without McDavid? No.
Are the Habs the same without Price? No.
Do the Canucks make their 2011 Cup run without the Sedins? No.
And on and on and on... So what's your point.
Alas, Matthews IS a Leaf and became one legitimately, just like every other player drafted before him. |

Sid not a lottery pick....tank job
McDavid shear fluke
Price was smart drafting not luck
Sedins were from a big trade
Point was a comment quoting another poster.

Nothing close to todays odds of moving up or down was my point
Any of 14 teams can get 1OA now & the Crosby draft only 5 had a chance.
Worst a team could drop back then was only 1 spot. |

I still think Varlamov is a top-15 or 20 goalie in the league, but is heavily exposed behind that awful Av's D |
