Yeah like that has helped. Don't worry about where they finish as long as prospects develop. Miss the playoffs as bubble team or crater at end. No difference really. Just win the lotto and all will be fine.
- Nuck4U

Of course it's helped....HELLO. They got Juolevi and Pettersson out of it, those are some fantastic kids for their future (hopefully).

Oh yes, you're right. Still don't think he plays for a million a year.

On last place, no, because tanking will be in full force which jades things, however, I'm all for a bottom three finish guarantee on the Canucks part.

Good picks at #4 or #5
- VANTEL

2018 draft has a robust top 20 so it's all good. I'd rather Canucks develop prospects then play plugs to tank. But if you're talking difference making pick then you just need to win the lotto; 1-3 that's what counts.

He's probably misplaced more ties than we have all owned.

I would gladly take a Boqvist Wilde or Tkachuk wth the number 5.

It is possible that Pettersson may be this years best player. I also don't think the Avs are complaining about Jost

Winning lotto for Mathews or Laine is what counts. Teams who picked lower then Canucks are just as excited about their picks and their development. No real big difference. I'll add the caveat that despite the low ratings by Pronam and others I believe in the potential ceilings of OJ & EP.

You can find great players in the top five and even in the top ten. Sure the top two is always best, but there's been some great players taken outside of the top two or three spots.

Higher is better but top ten still gives you a great young player.

It's very possible all 3 of them would be available lower down. That's the thing ithese kids have a good shine on them past the cream of the lotto winners. My point being not sweating it over 4-10 they all sparkle. Lotto win is the difference maker.

No, you're wrong, because you're making it sound like it's all that matters, which is completely false. They got Marner at 4th overall, Nylander at 8th overall, Rielly at 5th overall, you build a team over time and yes picking first is HUGELY important but Toronto wouldn't have had the success they had last year with Matthews alone.

So what you're saying is... we need to putourselves in the best position to win the lotto! #AllInForDahlin

Agreed. Reason not concerned about last place finish no hurrah there for rebuild. But everyone here would be celebrating in the streets if Canucks win lotto in 2018.

This response doesn't explain what part of my post was wrong. Like you and I said you accumulate top picks.

That's the ticket. Have one and win. Any other position has no real impact.

Ok I'll bite...

Other than the LAK who won cups & r hardly a contender now all those teams have not done anything yet. SJ copied us & lost in the Finals. From there only Edmonton looks to be a contender & cuz of a lotto win getting McDavid. With us being in transition & rebuilding I prefer to look 3-5yrs down the road.

The Oilers look set to be a contender for years to come.
The Flames look very solid but not all pieces r in place.
The Ducks are aging but still deep in talent on D & not winning the cup IMO.
The Kings are in cap hell with Quick/Doughty/Kopitar as their core & not much else
The Yotes a ton of prospects but unproven but looking good to compete.
The Knights aah nothing to worry about there.

The Avs are in the Central & stuck in quick sand.

grabo is not top6. He and clarkson were just roster dumps. Neither played last year.

I think shipachov will be 1c. its a tossup between Karlsson/lindberg/eakins for the 2c. It says mrchessault is center, pretty sure he played wing in florida and will continue to.

- neem55

Shipachov a 30yr old unproven stop gap as 1C.... say no more.
