yup.

Although.
The whole term 'tanking' could be interpreted in different ways i guess.
The canucks definitely 'tanked' from the TDL last year, when they sold off players (and used Megna/Chaput way too much) due to where they were in the standings. I have no problem with that.

I do have a problem with 'tanking' from the start of the year, which i don't think the Canucks have done.

I am on board with trying your azz off to start, but at some point, when injuries and lack of depth make it clear that the season is a write-off...do the smart thing and move assets and prepare for the next year.

- dbot

Disagree. Tanking is tossing an entire season. There is no degree to tanking.
The Leafs disguised their tank with other words. It was a TANK start to finish.
Teams like ths Av's tank by accident when so abysmal to begin with.

For decades teams have traded at the TDL looking ahead to the next season or beyond. What the Sabres did was give no hope & as did the Pens when it was for Crosby. Difference is the Sabres were in a lottery & the Pens were not. When it came down to Chaput/Megna it was depth issues & injuries. WD was another factor being rigid & stupid when it was obvious he had no clue how to use other players properly. His idea of lines & TOI was simply incredibly dumb & he was fired & deservedly so. Tanev on the PP was as stupid as it gets. Not giving Tryamkin more ice was a huge gaff. Sticking it out on a pathetic PP was suicide. Trading Hansen/Burrows was an obvious move to move on. The Hamhuis/Vrbata lesson was problematic. MG with one contract & Vrbata being a goof.

After all is said & done with we r left where we r now...
Drafting stockpiling & developing more prospects with UFA vets filling roles & mentoring til the kids can earn spots. I expect TG will coach totally different & not sit say Rodin & Boucher when offence is lacking. Furthermore players will all be accountable & sit when they suck Sedins included. TG is neither stupid nor need worry about his job but rather start the rebuild on its proper footing & then adjust as needed.

i'm not sure how you've come to this conclusion. \
I don't know that much about Green, but i expect him to coach to try to win games and not worry about the development of certain players.

Of course he'll have to worry about his job. If the team sucks and under performs, he will be held accountable, just as Willie was.

Following his career & trackng his interviews in Utica mixed in with some obvious observations i have added. As for underperform maybe but it would take a lot for that happen to fall on his shoulders. As for winning it will start with systems & what he expects from players game in & game out. The development of players will be in Utica. The roster JB has given him spells out many things & what we can expect from the players we currently have.

Whatever happens if nothing else its a treading water season with high expectations on the new guard to make waves & show growth win or lose.

I find this a pretty good assessment for the Calder

http://mynhltraderumors.c...2712-470d3a2a25-204803761

I'm leaning towards McAvoy whom i really liked when we picked OJ.
At the time i didn't mind a trade down & picking him.

BB can win but i think 25 goals is needed to get serious votes.
Yes i believe he is capable of that & began as soon as i tracked him at UND.

I expect nearly every Canadian who lives in Shanghai will be there. I'm a bit out of touch with Vancouver's players these days. Who should I be looking out for? Any good young guys?

THe roster is not set yet bud
Probably closer it gets to game day the better time to know who.

When i first moved here, they had a ice hockey game/event.
It was Canada vs USA.
I was initially hyped, until i learned the highest profile players coming over were Kyle Quincy and Rob Schremp...plus tickets were retarded and you sat at dinner tables while watching the game.

I did not go.

The Beer league here is awesome tho.

I would hope Brock Boesser will be there.
I also hope he will score a goal.

the difference between willie and TG is they've had years to observe TG before hiring. Its not so blind. Management is behind him and rightfully so, he's earned it.

We shall see he does with our group but he is a way better coach hands down. So we will be better

Id think any canadian living there would be ecstatic that an nhl game would be played there. Pretty improbable.

As for Vans young stars, it would depend who they decide to send over. Regardless, there wouldnt be a lot of nhl hockey to chose from. Just attend and report back to use on what you saw please.

I may just do that. I'm going with a buddy who is also Canadian and he is bringing his daughter. He's back in Canada right now and he sent me a photo of two Canucks t-shirts he purchased for our kids to wear to the game.

Yes and No.

There are cases like the Leafs where they may have planned a season long tank for Matthews but still it can be tough to tell. I think most GMs wait to see where their team is at 10-12 games before TDL and then manipulate their lineups to possibly acquire a better draft pick.

I would have to think that season long tanks are not the norm and if so, very very rare.
