it's very tight lipped around there, from what I am told

The Eichel contract needs to be wrapped up.
Then if Butcher signs this is what Botts did this offseason:
Hired Housley
Ran his first draft
Traded a 3rd for Bowl-U
Traded Ennis and Foligno for Pomminville and Scandella
Signed Antipin
Signed Polliot
Signed Butcher
Signed a bunch of guys for Rochester as well some that could push for spots in Buffalo
Signed Girgensons Larsson Lehner Bowl-U and Eichel to contracts
That's a pretty good first offseason. Next offseason is when he'll have to earn his money with whatever they do with Lehner, Kane and Reinhart plus improving the rest of the team.
He started a good foundation. Let's see what he does with it.

why?
other teams still wanted him and antipin did not sign til bots was the new gm
if anything bots closed the deal and assured the kid to come to buffalo - homiedclown
I think it was a joint effort between Murray and Bots. It was more about the opportunity for him, and perhaps he also likes the owner. Bots gets credit for signing him, Murray gets credit for scouting, finding and convincing him to stick with Buffalo.
Apparently Bots was also interested in him while in Pitt, so at least both GMs felt the same.

I'd be curious to see an analysis done on this as I feel it's often a mistaken assumption, especially by the analytics devotees, that player X will always score more with more minutes. I don't think that is always the case, and it is certainly far from a given. - kingcong39
You don't think playing 6 or 7 more shifts a game adds up to at least 5-10 extra points a year?
I don't think it needs to be looked into that deeply.

You know if the Bills finish awful and draft top 5 they will get one of the 3 QBs that are coming out and then have all of those draft picks to build the rest of the roster.
They could in fact actually know what they are doing...
BUUUUUT it's the Bills so they don't get the benefit of the doubt.

Those 6 picks should fill those positions with the first 4 being starters
later anyway. At first people will pencil him in the BUF/RCH lineup with hopes he turns out. Then after he starts playing. They will say how he isn't that good.
Then we trade him away. he becomes the next McNabb. We should have never traded him...... - burner087

I think they are smart enough to know that the glorious run to 7 and 9 every year isn't getting us anywhere. Maybe a 2nd for Shady? I know he is exceptional but RB just isn't valued.
