He was 31st in scoring for centers (give or take a few because they have some centers listed as wings, some wings as centers)
24th in PPG. (Same, give or take a few)
Yes, he's good defensively, but so are a lot of guys like him.
I think it's tough to call him a top 25 center. - sbroads24
Anyone worthy enough to suit up for Canada is a top 25 centre. If it's top 30 so be it but his value as an all situations type player is perfect for our team

Wait so he is right around 30 for scoring and 24th in PPG and is the 3rd or 4th best defensive center in the game and that doesn't make him a top 25 center?
How is it tough to call him a top 25 center when he is 31st in points and 24th in ppg?
He is really close to being top 25 on stats alone not to mention his defensive play.
Doesn't seem too tough - Stripes77
His scoring is inflated a little bit IMO because he's forced to play so many minutes.
When we have depth I think he goes under 20 minutes a game.
Don't get me wrong, O'Reilly is an awesome player. But I think I would take a few more centers over him in that range

buffalo's tear down and rebuild coincided with the rise of the Edmonton Oilers...many, myself included, were of the belief that bowman was building a great team...after all he had just came over from Montreal where "The Flying Frenchmen" were a dynasty...it was disappointing outcome...After coaching the expansion St. Louis Blues, Bowman won Stanley Cups with Montreal, Pittsburgh and Detroit...his time in Buffalo, however, didn't go as planned - Michael Pachla
Yeah, but the difference was he had to turn players away in Montreal, It's easy when the team has 18 Cups and he already had one on his way to 4 more with them.
It's not so easy in an American city that had a Final appearance and a couple HOFers at the end of their careers, or very beginning in the case of a few guys.

That "Star power" chart that came out a little while ago had ROR only a few spots behind Jack in tier 2. It was sort of broken being that it was cumulative and players that were hurt, like Jack and Jamie Benn were much lower than they should've been. And even ROR, because he's missed about 20 games the past 2 years.
"Boldin signed a one-year deal with a $1 million signing bonus on Aug. 7. It is unclear whether he will pay back the bonus or whether the team will ask for the money back."

History's with the team on this one. They almost always get paid back.
But we'll never really know how good he could've been if Richards didn't almost decapitate him.
Edit: Randy Jones. I was thinking David Booth with Richards. Still a Flyers (frank) either way. - Wetbandit1
I'm sure quite a few of those Centers that were 15-23 in ppg aren't as good defensively as O'Reilly
And I'll bet many of them also play on better teams,
with better wingers,
and better defensemen getting the puck up the ice,
And don't have to play in the toughest situations like O'Reilly
Without making a list...
he should probably be considered top20, if not better

Yet Oreilly gets the benefit of playing a PP unit (where he does a bulk of his scoring) with Jack Eichel. Which not all centers have that luxury.

O'Reilly wasn't in the Myers trade, why u sh!ting on him now! Hate to say boys, but the Sabres's will finally be a team that could win every night and make a run at a playoff spot! Deal with it, all this negativity and stat bullish!t is just getting old!

I called him one of the best #2 Centers in hockey.
I am sorry I am not a giant homer that thinks everyone of our players are All-Stars.
