Ya heard that too good on Calgary if they sign him. Flames need bottom 6 scoring in the worst way. Flames could be a second round PO team this year if they can add a bit more scoring to their bottom 6. - LordHumungous
We should trade them Sven for a first. Never mind they don't have a first |

Let EG walk if he's not signing here? - VanHockeyGuy
EGs not going anywhere for the time being...So how do you sell that to Franson?
'Listen, we really have no room for you in Van, but we hear Utica is beautiful throughout the winter months, Oh and btw, Holm, Weircoch are possibly ahead of you on the depth chart. So stick around and we'll see what happens at the TDL." |

Maybe for McCann and a 2nd?
There's a real chance Franson will settle for a PTO. I'd like to see Stafford or Jimmy Hayes get a PTO with us and bump Dorsett to Utica |

JB apparently had a deal in place for him to return to FLA, maybe he was getting nervous over an injured player who may have told him he won't resign long term.
That's the type of player you can move whenever the offer's good enough. |

Before his injury, Dorsett was the only Canuck to registrar on the-give-a-sh*t meter on any given night. How quickly people forget that Bo Horvat said that Dorsett was an integral part in his early developement. But ya, he should be cast to the minors to make way for a PTO. |

Dorsett is the new age "enforcer" where you have to be able to skate, play defense, chip in offensively when possible, while being able to stick up for your teammates. There is a reason soo many one dimensional enforcers aren't finding work. Dorsett makes for a good 4th line player imo. |

I know Dorsett is the only player in the lineup to lose fights on a nightly basis - and bring those intangibles, like skating hard down the ice and then falling down for no reason, or missing open nets, taking stupid penalties or having some of the worst possession stats in league history - or almost killing himself when throwing "hits" and that near career ending neck injury is a solid reason to keep him around. But I know your DD love grows fonder and stronger with each passing day. |

I do agree that Dorsett is the only player that "givesash*t" - Marwood is completely accurate in saying that. Gudbranson and Labate are really the only other guys. I guess my biggest beef is that he's so god awful at literally everything else. And we settle for this, it sucks, there are other players available to do what he does, at a fraction of the price. And the truth is, we don't know what version of DD we're gonna get coming off that injury, there's a real chance that he could spend time in Utica this year. |

I don't see Labate as a realistic option. In my opinion DD is a much better player. EG needs to focus on defense and not fighting. You can't have a D in your top 4 playing the role of enforcer. Ultimately we just don't agree on DD abilities. I see him as a solid energy player that can chip in some offense while not being a defensive liability. You see a worthless plug
Many on here mention that we can get another Dorset for cheaper. Perhaps, but we have always struggled to find 4th liners that can fight and play the game. Any ideas who is available and better than DD? |

No I really don't - but as an example, Jimmy Hayes is tough, and he fights AND he's a hell of a lot better at everything else than Derek fawking Dorsett. I guess some just enjoy having god-awful, horrific players in our lineup. |

I would think that too, but for however long we have lacked these players on the 4th line.
I'm all for upgrading on DD, but actually signing that upgrade must be the challenge or JB would have done it already.
Prust didnt last long. DD is a better skater. maybe faller too.

It was even more awesome when Gudbranson grabbed Martin the next game and fed him. Or when Hanson jumped Kadri for blind siding his captain. Or Burrows went after Reilly for nailing Hanson. Meanwhile, Dorsett grabbed Komarov for some unknown reason. |
