which is true. I hate the idea of the compensation of offer sheeting someone, which is why I don't really read articles on them, but when you look at the cap HELL that DET is in, and a young/fast/talented player like Andreas, the compensation isn't awful at all if you could do it right. Again though, you would be pissing off Kenny Holland and not sure you want to do that. - Codes1087
Whats he going to do? He doesnt have the cap space to offer sheet anyone back |

absolutely nothing he could do at this point given his cap situation.
I just went back and looked up the last person who was offer sheeted. And accepted... Dustin Penner by the Oil. 5 years 21 million. 1st round pick, 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick as compensation |

Valid concern, but for me the ones that matter (the kids) would learn a lot from him and appreciate having him. If Sutter/Sedin/Eriksson dont like him, I would not be concerned, he's left a trail of good young players in his wake since his return to the NHL in Dallas, Philly, NJ and FLA
Even if no one wants him, like when he didnt get traded out of NJ, or it doesnt work out, no big deal. He only wants 1 year deals, low risk - WhiteLie
That was my concern was affect on kids and development. |

Yeah that's the problem with offer sheets. The compensation cost. But like Andreas as a player he's fiesty too. Maybe JB can offer a 3rd rounder for cap relief instead. Holding the offer sheet as negotiating chip on leverage. |

Not wrong at all excellent points. For me this team needs a 'boost' of sorts. Whether that is a few more tickets sold for the stands or a little more excitement on the ice with Jagr I'm all for it. Buy hey I am totally content with going with the kids...all good. - LordHumungous
8 mil in cap space and Horvat will get 5 . You also want at least 3 mil for wiggle room. The numbers don't add up. Plus we are trying to get younger faster. There is no match here |

Jagr would probably take 800,000...it's very minor considering one year deals and where the team is. As per matching Jagr has proven to be a player that could pretty much play anywhere.
Oh...and Bo will get 5.5

Funny how often I get comment-replies like this - only to have my original comment proven correct in the long run! I got two years worth of snotty comments like this when I told you guys that the only thing which made sense was that Kesler and Luongo had asked for trades. You guys slandered me for literally years over those two claims. Oh, and look who was right! Not you guys.
When Horvat either gets offer-sheeted, traded, or (more likely) signs a contract that makes you shake your head and wonder what Canucks' management was thinking, I imagine you guys will probably forget who was actually right here, like always... - stringerbell

Why isn't everyone making a bigger deal about the Horvat (non-)signing???
What's happening right now does not bode well for us. It should be the top-story every day.
For instance, notice how Hirsch said 'you don't want to lose him' in the article linked to above? Right before changing the subject? Now, why on Earth would he ever say that??? Horvat's an RFA, we are in absolutely no danger of losing him (unless he wants out). So, why would Hirsch imply we are in danger of losing him? Why would he ever do that - unless management has actually been talking about it? Unless they've actually been gaming this out?
This implies that they've offered Horvat multiple different humongous contracts - and he's turned them all down. It also implies that management are worring about what to do without Bo.
It sure looks like we are about to get screwed. Massively. - stringerbell

Next year we have 12 players signed and 35 mil in cap space I don't see any of the RFAs getting more than a mil raise

Anything up to 5.888 would be matched. A first second and third in next years draft I would think twice |
