There was a lot of breaking down scouting reports and bickering here that's for sure.
I was pro Reinhart because I didn't like Bennett and I wasn't sold on the German... |

I still don't blame them for picking Sam.
I just hate that it seems we rarely luck out in this city.
Sure, it could be worse, but when was the last time we hit a home run?
Hopefully that's Middlingstats |

Oh I was talking about Pastrnak - GERBE!!!75PTS
Central scouting had him ranked #5 in European skaters which is where he went in the draft.
He was picked right about where he should have been |

He basically said everything most logical people have been saying...
If Kapernick was good he is would be worth the distraction, but he is not.
Now lets see more people march so he can get a job... |

He had his time...
Now it's all dried up when teams caught on to him. It's over now

What he says makes some sense.
But i think it's funny that he gives a 80 second answer, and then at the end says "I'm going to stay out of it." |

Never heard that. I always heard he was great with the puck. He had the vision and could really slow the game down and make things happen that way, coming out of college. <---- This him playing at center.
Now playing for the Sabres the past 2 years full time. He's been on the RW, and has made good plays with Jack. He excelled when he got in front of the net and was able to bury the goals.
He needs to get back to what made him successful. 1. Going to the gym 2. Extra practice (O'Reilly Practice) and 3. Getting in front of the net.
That's his recipe for success in this league. He took a step back last year. He has to come in and dominate, and if he does those 3 things, he will be g2g. - mattsox

You can tell he was trying to be as down the middle as possible like he knows no matter what he says here people are going to get on him for whatever comes out of his mouth.
He was asked a question, it's not like he just came out and started talking about it. |

I liked Draisaitl, said Edmonton made a good pick
But my choice for us was Reinhart
I do remember getting quite a bit of sh!t about how good I thought Ekblad was though... clear #1
Why are we even talking about this draft?
We have Sam
He's a good player
Who improved last year
After having a better Rookie year than most expected (at least w goals)
I don't see why ppl are so quick to give him a ceiling
Not everyone takes huge leaps,
& we all know there were extenuating circumstances last year
Likely see his assists go up if he's moved back to Center
(where he belongs imo)
Maybe give the kid a couple more seasons before we label how good he can become one day? |

It's not like I think he got it wrong once he decided to answer the question.
I just know that sometimes the best answer to a question is, "I don't have the answer for that one." |

Right now I would never trust Sam with the game on line .. But that's just me - GERBE!!!75PTS
Here's some facts for you:
- Canada won the gold medal at the world junior championships in 2015. The last time Canada won gold.
- Skunk lead the tournament in scoring
- Skunk was named a tournament all-star
- In the gold medal game against the Russians (which Canada won 5 - 4), Skunk was on the ice for the last 90 seconds taking all of the critical defensive zone draws. The Russians had pulled their goalie and Canada kept icing the puck. McDavid was on the bench.
Your hatred of Skunk is blinding you to the facts. Your above comment is asinine.
Monday morning quarterbacking is easy. Yes, in hindsight Murray should have drafted Draisatl. But he didn't so move on. If Skunk is a solid 55 to 65 point player his entire career and turns into a "Bergeron light", I am happy. And I think he will deliver on both of those things.

Didn't Cody Hodgson do the same thing?
Facing Sweden in the final game, Hodgson scored two goals – one on the powerplay and an empty-netter – and one assist to overtake John Tavares as the tournament leading scorer with five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in six games.[120] Team Canada defeated Sweden 5–1 to capture the gold medal while Hodgson was named to the Tournament All-Star Team. |

My only question on the "Bergeron lite" aspect is that he's yet to be put in defensive situations, and with O'Reilly here im not sure he's going to play that role.
He's more of a Chris Kunitz without being a pest. Just a pretty good player riding shotgun to a great center |

And how is all that translating to the NHL ? I'm happy people are happy with a average player at the 2nd overall pick.. I wanted more
OK who would you trust game 7 ROR of Sam ? That's what I thought |

Ekblad
Dras
Pastranik
Ehlers
Nylander
Reinhart
Larkin
Fabbri
Bennett
How the first round of the draft would go now, maybe Nylander above Ehlers but they're pretty close. Maybe Nylander cause he can play center.
I still say Ekblad goes 1st.
It isn't a great draft still but not as weak as we were lead to believe. We will see more when more of the later round picks make it like.
Leaving out Viktor Arvidsson because nobody knew who he was and he was drafted in the 4th round. - Stripes77
