1) Eriksson will bounce back and will be traded to Arizona/Vegas in the future who will happily take him because they'll take on all 50+ bad contracts in the NHL when the players are old too old and start to suck.
2) Virtanen just needs more time, he's gonna surprise everyone! He's one of those players who plays better against NHL'ers instead of AHL'ers. A fascinating talent. He's a good misunderstood kid who just like girls, I had beer with him once.
3) All of our decent/good prospects will pan out, pencil...no... permanent marker them all in your 2020 lineup! - Nucker101

'If Vancouver had acquired the first overall pick we would not have gone with Hischier or Patrick'.

Good that he's calling out NCAA free agency. Totally a joke, I agree.

Not sure how you fix this one. Perhaps you tack on an extra 2 years that a team can hold your rights if a player commits the NCAA route after being drafted? |

Yeah, things are going so well with the Horvat negotiations that they're working hard to avoid starting the season without him!...
Think about that for a second...
Negotiations (that are usually completed in June) are apparently going so well (we've offered everything from 2 to 8 years and everything in-between and yet he's still managed to refused all of them) that we now have to work hard to get him signed before its too late and the season starts (or, in other words, several months late).
Yeah, so positive these negotiations! We're totally going to re-sign him for a good price!... /s - stringerbell

Stringer, you try way to hard man.

Them switching teams is a pretty good metaphor for what's happened to both franchises since then.

Eliminate the draft is how you do it. |

It's pretty simple. Would work really well with a hard cap system.
Bigger contracts for players right out of the gate. No more ELC's. |

Fair enough. But, the concern is still legit. Of course he's eventually going to sign, but it seems like the hope to get him locked up at a nice cap hit for 6-8 years isn't likely to happen. - Nucker101
He will sign no worry at all. |

I think Canucks already have something in place with Bo but are just sitting back and f(cking with Pratt and Tambir to see if their heads will explode |

Would love it. Teams with big markets and better living will attract more players as you can't pay them all top dollar. Canes move to Seattle and help ticket sales with rivalry |

When tanking used to worked back then. But those teams biggest problem was they spent no money and fans were tired of being duped. |

why would they spend money when their teams were complete dogpoop. It goes hand in hand. Your elite talent players are the ones you pay money for, because they bring in the fans. When you don't have elite talent, you will start to notice that ticket sales go down, which is why Rogers Arena has been bare the last few years. |

That would be fine by me.
Idea is that a hard cap would help keep top level talent spread around as you can't pay for elite young guys and still ice a hockey team. In theory, it should balance things out. |
