This is where I hope players like Granlund Sven Bo and Boeer step up so we don't see a need for them. Bring on the next wave. If they return that is because we are still way way behind. I would like to see the Canucks use that cap space and bring in one new top 6 young player. - VANTEL
Well said and a nice echo of my posts from previous pages.
Just one thing of note. Your previous 100% of Bloated's post also had in it that Sedins should be extended 3 more years. |

You must be a very patient fan. 47 years and counting. Good for you.
I, on the other hand, despise mediocrity. Loath it. And the canuck franchise is the epitome of mediocrity.
Oh well, I guess it comes down to personality, not a measurement of your devotion as a fan. - bloatedmosquito
Oh believe me, I am frustrated with the fortunes of this club as well. I understand though that after having a pretty successful run with the WCE and then this Sedin Era, that it will take some time to get back on track.
All teams go through these cycles and all fan bases react in a similar manner, some are hysterical, some are indifferent, some are calm and some are extremely patient.

you can experiment a bit during preseason, but then it's on.
imo it's up to mgmt to ice the team, coaches will use the best options provided to them.
if JB and TL and FA really want a rebuild, they will trade/not resign Sedins and put younger players in positions to succeed.
It's not on Green. - dbot
You can't trade the Sedin's. NMC plus they would have to be traded together at a $14m cap hit. My relegation strategy is more likely to be implemented before twins are traded away. |

I'm not a huge fan of soccer but the EPL got it right when they created other ways outside of the championship trophy for fans to cheer for and engage in their team.
Premier League Championship
FA Cup
EFL Cup
FA Community Shield (replacing the Charity Shield)
League Super Cup
League Centenary Trophy (for elite clubs to celebrate 100 years of the Football League)
UEFA Champions League (formerly the European Cup)
UEFA Europa League (formerly the UEFA Cup)
UEFA Super Cup
FIFA Club World Cup
That doesn't even include Derby's and other European and world competitions that individual city clubs take part in.
The NHL just has one trophy that matters. From an entertainment and marketing perspective does that make any sense? - bloatedmosquito
In soccer they applaud players on the number of trophies won, here we mock our team for winning President's Trophies as best team from the regular season |

No. The easiest thing to do is eliminate the teams that struggle bringing in revenue and eliminate the cap. The draft has been a successful way for weaker teams to get better for decades now.
Having less teams without a cap would allow for teams to be stronger throughout lineup and we'll into the farm system, while also allowing for the weaker teams to make offers to UFA's, making them stronger. - Renidrag
It doesn't work as well with today's lotto draft, like you said historically, as evidenced by who has won.
Agree to disagree that removing the cap and folding teams is easier then just eliminating the draft. Even more perplexed how that's a solution to removing tanking which was what the posts with Bloated were talking about. |

VANTEL has been saying this for months and months, so I doubt very much that he is echoing your posts from earlier pages, more so you are echoing his comments from several Months of concern on this issue.

I agree, eye candy for the easily distracted.
Aquaman was counting on that image to get this team through a tough rebuild without taking too much heat for it. Really, how can you get mad at this face?

That's what I've been saying. Stanley Cup because nothing else matters in the NHL. It's so dumb from a business point of view I can't even explain it. |

Like I laid out in previous posts it be a mark of failure if they did. But surprised you endorsed it just kidding.... I know we are on the same page on what needs to be done to move on. |

Who mocks the second most awesome trophy?
Who mocks a trophy no one gives a f*ck about once the playoffs start?
Who mocks the Canuck's greatest accomplishment? Twice. |

Football has the million different college bowls that are celebrated, baseball throws championship parties for clinching a playoff spot/winning division/winning playoff round/etc. Basketball I think is the only one that doesnt have secondary team awards that get celebrated.
Point is, why bother having a presidents trophy or any other awards if they mean nothing? And further to that, why not have more like rivalry games to bring more entertainment since only 1/31 teams win the cup? |

Here's how the NHL can expand fan excitement:
Stanley Cup (playoff championship trophy)
President's Trophy (regular season trophy)
Original Six Cup
Derby's (essentially subway series)
Special rivalry events such as Boston/Montreal, Rangers/Pens, etc.
What else? How about an international club events where the best club teams from around the world complete. That would be better than those stupid World Cups and National team tournaments. Save that poop for the Olympics.

Interesting what you pay attention too. He had no poblem with it. Vantel knows I've advocated all season about developing youth, make trades for more futures and signing young UFA's to grow with team. All above would allow team to rebuild and move on from the Sedins. |

I basically write what I feel and seldom get my ideas from anyone else.
