We let the most shots on goal, have the worst goalie duo in the NHL, don't score and have rookie coach. What could possibly go wrong? - neem55
I think that this is what you mean.
We allow our dominate duo of goalies the opportunity to make the most saves out of all the goalies in the NHL. We don't need many shots on the opposition goal and we have the best coaching staff in the history of our franchise. What could possibly not go right? |

What's really funny, is how the narrative has changed....I shouldn't be surprised by now but it wasn't too long ago this board was sobbing about bingo or Bango, whatever his name is for coming in and telling us Sutter is a pedestrian player.
Troll!!!!!
Makita they are trolling us
- belcherbd
A bit of a difference between Sutter being a god awful player (Bingo's summer long narrative) and Sutter fetching a 1st round pick at the dealine. I believe he is somewhere in the middle, a servicable and somewhat versatile 3rd line center/winger.
Anyway, I'm just trying to be an independent thinker. |

Bingo makes my skin crawl. He deserves a lifetime ban for being creepy. Sutter has huge stones |

You ever watch European Footbal, all the leagues are separate entities, all the stadiums are different from club to club, you would have a bit more travel for sure, and if by some miraculous feat Kalamazoo made it too the PO's....well yup I would watch.
I watched Leicester go from promotion to winning the title in the same year, the team I support seats 80,000 plus, Leicester seats 32,000.
What a Cinderella story, bring on promotion and relegation. - Makita
Exactly! I said the same thing two seasons ago when the canucks came to the realization that massive changes were needed. I lobbied for tanking and playing our prospects in hopes of getting high draft picks.
Folks on here said the fans wouldn't have it and would turn their backs on the team. That would translate into massive losses for the owner. Therefor it would never happen.
I think of it more in the context of your 'Cinderella' scenario. I think fans would support a bunch of kids busting their ass, playing hard and fast, regardless of the wins and loses. IMO that's more palatable than watching a bunch of fading vets struggling to keep up and scratching out wins chasing false playoff hopes.
The underdog or Cinderella story is very compelling for sports fans. Hard to resist cheering for a bunch of kids growing into champions. |

I stand by my original statement, this board tends to overreact to perceived criticism.
I was just about to use Don as an example but he just made my point for me |

Overreact? OVERREACT?! This is a playoff team, Sutter is quality center at bargain basement price. Sedin's for four more years! |

Sutter is as advertised. Solid 3LC. He can break 40 pts if Green uses him right this year. - LordHumungous
He was sold as either a top 6 foundational player stuck behind elite centers by some and a overrated, overpaid but solid 3C by others including Bingo iirc.
I really doubt he can break 40 points, he hasn't yet in his career despite being given very good linemates and opportunities. I expect 30-35 points if he is still on the PP and getting 17-18 min per night.

I'll say we have a better chance making playoffs than getting 1OA. |
