Both Bogosian & Girgensons are what they are right now. I could see a slight uptick in production from Bogo but that's only if he doesn't get hurt....chances are he's playing 65 games this year so let's just accept that off the hop.
Girgensons is not a skill player, he's a role player. I have him pegged in at 4th line LW with Josefson ahead. I've heard from a few Jersey fans now that Josefson is sneaky underrated and is very nimble/quick and has good instincts (and can score in the shootout).
We Sabres fans have to accept some of the truths about this roster no matter who is coaching it. Our bottom 6 is still very weak especially if Reinhart plays 1RW and Bailey/Baptiste do not perform. It could be this team's downfall. The defense still does not have enough depth either. If Bogosian gets hurt, Scandella gets hurt, or god forbid Ristolainen for extended periods we are doomed.
BUF needs a Toronto season where nearly everything goes right and guys hit record years with no injuries. It could happen but it's a long shot -- hence why most projections have us finishing 6th and 7th in ATL. - teamvanek

Dude, Myers is gone, get over it. - BeadyEyedDouche
he's not wrong.
The issue with Bogo is he can't stay healthy and he looks lost when he misses time. Takes way too long for him to jump back in and contribute. It would be one thing to deal with the injuries if he was the type of player that jumped back into the lineup after like he never missed any time. But he's not. Takes him like 10-20 games (depends on how long he's been out) before he looks serviceable again. Not a good thing when you're a guy that perpetually misses time every year. |

I'm excited for Bogosian's bounce back season.
....until game 15 when the groin gives it the ol' tear.
Seriously, he's been in the league 8 years under 4 different coaches. His story has been written. Shelter him and attempt to move him in a year. - sbroads24
seriously no coach in the nhl has that much impact on a players abilities positively or negatively |

Sorry if I'm late to the party on this one, but did anyone else see the Toronto Scout/Golf cart crash story?
So...firing squad? Chinese water torture? Make him watch reruns of Jack scoring? How we doing this? |

What IF the additions of Scandella, Buleau and Antipin (plus possible emergence of Guhle) means improved D...on second thought scratch the IF...this is guranteed
IF the veteran additions of Poulliot and Pommer (Plus Josefson as you said) means a better forward and bottom-six group...those 3 alone represent a 50% improvement in bottom six
IF we get good play from the kids (Nylander, Bailey, Baptisite, whomever) when called upon
IF the guys I mentioned earlier, Larsson, Moulson, Girgs all do better when given appropriate roles
IF the change in coaching means all the difference in the world (and NO, nobody said Housely was Jesus)
IF Jack emerges as the superstar most of us think he will be
NONE of these things are unthinkable or a big stretch. We could be way better than most people think. But IF all you, Broads and some others want to do is poop on the parade that hasn't even started yet then that's your deal...I choose to look at the positive IFs rather than speculate on half our defense getting injured at the same time, or assume that player-x is going to miss 40 games because he's been hurt before. |

I'm sure it's a legit factor but you guys seem to avoid the real issue, and that we s you don't have enough players good enough to make up a core of a playoff team. Until, that hAppens, it won't matter who's coaching, playing back up goalie or making up the 4th line. - Larsson_fan
Most Sabres fans are not avoiding that.
We have 3 new defensemen for the season. We have at least 3 new forwards for the season. Until we see how they play during the season, we don't know if they are good enough.
A team can make the playoffs with one superstar and a bunch of just so-so players so we shall see what happens. |

I am very postitve about the direction of this team since an actual GM has taken over. But no, that happening hasnt changed how below average Zach Bogosian is.
There is a difference between being negative, and being critical. I was negative when I knew the previous GM was a tire fire that would be axed eventually.
Right now, i'm positive we're heading in the right direction, but still critical of the underperformers, because they haven't earned any benefit of the doubt |
