We can all agree that, no matter our political stripes, that it is funny that the President's peers up until two years ago were Dog the Bounty Hunter, Hulk Hogan, Ron Jeremy, and Screech.
That is a stone cold reality. He was in playboy videos and the WWF. He had a catch phrase.
All political opinions aside, that's still really hilarious and messed up. - James_Tanner
What you fail to understand is America had a choice between a inarticulate buffoon and one of the worst, scheming crooks to ever run for President. We chose the buffoon because we've had enough of the crooks. It's as simple as that.
What's really funny is there were at least a half of dozen of real impeachable crimes committed under Obama. The bulk of the MSM never touched them therefore most Americans never heard of them. Imagine if Trumps Attorney General got caught letting guns go free to the hands of the Mexican cartels. Only to have those guns involved in known murders....including an American border guard.
Let's talk about Hillary Clinton. Let's talk about her pushing for the war in Libya. I mean, how can you not understand the disaster that has become Libya....not to mention the long term consequences for Europe. Hillary's track record for stunningly poor decision making is long as it is astounding. There's at least a dozen things she's done in "public service" (cough, cough) that would instantly kill most politicians career.

David Runblad was successful whenever he got ice time and I thought he had potential to be a top four defenseman. The last time we seriously discussed him was two years ago. And at the time, it wasn't even close to a hot take or anything - tons of people were surprised he didn't stick in the NHL given his success when he played.
If I said directly, with no qualifications, that I think that he is a top four NHL defenseman today, right now, then sure, make fun of that, because that would be stupid.
As far as things I've said that turned out to be wrong, that doesn't even crack the top one million anyways. - James_Tanner

Tanner you've spent the last couple of years slamming Doan every chance you got. Now he's a legend? But then you know nothing about hockey anyway. Reading your "offerings" is like looking at a fatal mva. BTW Doan is far from a "Canadian Jesus". He's moved to another country and has snubbed his homeland. Hope he rots in the desert (if that's possible). |

Nice write up Jimmy. I always enjoy your work, but.as much as I enjoy the blogs , I get more entertainment out of reading the comments (and your responses) that they generate. Just another reminder that there are a lot of bitter people in the world with too little hockey knowledge and too much time on their hands (and too much access to the internet). |

Beating on the POTUS is incredibly hip right now, as is demeaning anyone who voted for him as some sort of mentally challenged pond scum. Trump was probably no ones 1st choice, but he represented change and the alternative did not. Well said |

however, i disagree about the buffoon part. I believe many of the words, actions, behaviours, etc... are strategic to seem an everyday man.
most people agree that one on one, Trump is a pure charmer, even his most ardent critics complimented (at least in the past) on this (ie: liberal joe and sidekick) |

TRUMP had the best branding and was instantly quotable by the electorate. His message was clear and succinct. He was the best marketed and reached his core audience time and time again. No one knew what anyone else stood for. Just like BhO had the marketing in the previous elections with his Hopey Changey message... no one was point out any one policy of his, just the fuzzy message which stuck. |

If you want to write off the serious criticism of this national tragedy as being nothing more than the hip thing to do, then all I can do is laugh at the way you guys eat up the brainwashing propaganda.

He's been pretty crappy for a couple years now, and he dogged them by insisting on continuing his career. It's hilarious how people paint the team negatively because they don't want to continue to ice someone worse than a replacement player. |

Almost all psychopaths are charming. As are all snake oil salesman.
I will give the guy this: he literally could shoot someone on 5th avenue and uneducated America would still find someway to continue liking him, just like he said. I just want to point out he recently sided with the KKK, and spoke of the tragic killing of a heroic young woman in the context of how great he is.
But hey, at least he's not a women or a liberal? |

Case in point, you disagree with me and resort to mocking and suggest I'm low intellect. Trump has many warts and cringe worthy moments, but he was placed in office by an educated decision of the American people - the vast majority of whom are not racist, evil, sexist or plain ol stupid. |

Hey Tanner, great write up. Though as a resident of Phoenix for all 36 years I've been alive, high school basketball is no where near number 1 here (maybe 2 but I digress). We are such a transient town that whichever franchise is winning at the time, that's the sport. It was the Suns in the 90's, Dbacks in the early 2000's and its' been the Cardinals since 2008. I mean come on, we are the 5th largest city in the US....
Doan is a legend here. He, along with Fitz and Luis Gonzalez, are the most beloved athletes in the valley. He is giving of his time to a fault, always willing to talk to kids and fans alike for hours after games or in public. He stayed with the franchise when no one else would have though all of the ownership crap, BK, arena and general dysfunction that has plagued the Coyotes for years.
There were a ton of trolls on this site yesterday bashing him, and I didn't want to respond. I'll just say this. I've met the man twice, and he went out of his way to not only engage me but both of my kids in a genuine conversation when he could have honestly said hey I have things to do or just a sign an autograph and bail. I have a picture of him and my 12 year old daughter that hangs in her room and is her most prized possession. I think that says a lot about the character of the man, not with standing all of the thousands and thousands of folks he has been just as nice to. Congrats on the great career Doan, and I can't wait to attend the jersey retiring ceremony. |

Those aren't really related tho 😂. A blogger's opinion of a defenseman and the president of our country carry a little bit of different weight. - ZechsMarquise

That really comes across as more of the same James.
Being a disgruntled critic is the easiest thing to do. If I'm so wrong and you're so right, then debate me and engage me, don't cop out. |

Spoken like one of those lunatics running around with black face masks and clubs who are beating on people while screaming fascist at the top of their lungs because they hate the other guys opinion. That's ocean full of irony right there. |

I still say you should visit Arizona at least once if you're going to write about it for a living. There are three ski resorts up in Flagstaff, a mere two hour drive from Phoenix. Arizona is a great place to vacation. And it's about the same price to fly there, rent a car and a room, and get a ticket as it is to go to a Leafs game. You're missing out Tanner. |

They retired Jeremy Roenick and Teppo Numminen, which Tanner would know if he'd ever visited Gila River Arena. I think it's safe to say #19 will be pasted to the wall soon. |
