didnt kane wind up scoring more away from eichel? keep him against tougher competition and let him be on a line where hes the puck carrier. puts him in a better position to succeed and it gives you three scoring lines well kinda.
And if you cant work out a reasonable deal (no 8 years 50 million is exactly not that) his value is high enough to get something good out of it on deadline day.

Draft picks? Most teams needing his service aren't giving up top 6 forwards.

"He showed maturity on the ice with his play this past season, most notably using his linemates more and taking less stupid shots that ended up with the opposition headed the other way."
Agreed that he took fewer "bad" shots. But disagree with the bolded.
He statistically was one of the worst passers in the NHL last season, on par with Nic Delauriers.
I still can't figure out which center he'd have the most impact with. Eichel is the easy answer, but he has a tendancy to be a puck hog, and Eichel does too.

his best spot might be 3rd line with girgens and pommer
if you put him on first team pp and second team pk he still gets 18 minutes or so each night

there's a middle ground here. Like kaiser said developed prospects would do just as well. Value is the key, thats what botterill is all about. if you cant get what you need in a trade for kane you can get enough value and use that to go after what you need.

I must be losing it, because as I sit here today with this line up, 3 new D-man that look like they can actually play D, New HC & GM. I can totally see this team being 1 win better a month, that's really all they have to do to be on the fringe of the playoffs. 1 stinkin win better a month...

Underrated.
You forgot Assassins too.
What's the one where he runs around NY trying to catch a terrorist? Is that Nighthawks? I think Billy Dee was in that too. I saw it one night on one of the antenna stations that used to play re-runs of Walker, Texas Ranger and a bunch of terrible action movies from the 80's and early 90's. GRIT I think the channel is called.
