Perhaps you should invest some of your time and money into educating yourself. As "one of those folks at the university", I pride myself on not being ignorant. It's not about "being a snowflake", it's about realising that the world does not revolve around white, pseudo-christian men. - lumlums
Today's University's are the opitimy of ignorance! It's very revealing when you attack another group to get your point across or attempt to. Ad hominem attacks are the lefts way when you don't have substance just a lot of symbolism.

Wait, so you call folks snowflakes, and then female dog about ad hominem attacks?
LOLZ.
And as Universities are places of knowledge and discovery, I think that you're getting your wires crossed here bud.
I assume that you can provide peer-reviewed journal articles from reputable publications to support this claim? - lumlums
The only country in the world who has rescinded that Transgender is a mental illness is Denmark. There's a 90% suicide rate for these poor people. THey need serious help.

I'd rather be called an idiot by a liberal, than ran over with a car by a CONservative.
I guess the snowflakes on the Right should just "man-up," and stop whining (for once, seriously, holy poop does the Right whine A LOT) about some words. Stop being so sensitive, snowflake.

Actually, it's about 41% in the US, which is still ridiculously high.
That said, this is more a product of the isolation and physical and mental abuse that transgender people are constantly subjected to, and not due to any mental illness that you believe is a cause.
You really should learn the difference between causation and correlation if you're going to incorrectly invoke statistics.
That said, the above report is from three PhD's at UCLA, so I'm sure that you'll find a way to discredit it

A number you just invented. And the WHO will drop Transgender when they update their codebook next year.
The reason behind Transgender sufferings is not gender dysphoria, it's "people" like you treating them like poop. The bullying, the beatings, being ignored by their family, hated by society - that's the problem. Dumb female genitalia.

Go to your safe place in your school and burn it down or what ever you leftist do to make yourselves feel better.

To make ourselves feel better we actively try to not make the world a pooptier place.

Real nice, making fun of a serious issue that Trans are suffering through! Real big of you! - arh777
It's NOT a mental disorder. And the high suicide rate is because of the high level of physical and mental abuse that they suffer from people with views similar to you.
Viewing it as a mental disorder hurts trans folk because it takes away any legitimacy from their being - what they need is support, not suggestions of medications to take. In fact, so many "mental" disorders are physiological in cause (imbalances in brain chemistry for instance), and that needs to be addressed with sound medicine instead of pity and metaphorically sweeping them under the rug.

Is being transgender a mental disorder?
A psychological state is considered a mental disorder only if it causes significant distress or disability. Many transgender people do not experience their gender as distressing or disabling, which implies that identifying as transgender does not constitute a mental disorder. For these individuals, the significant problem is finding affordable resources, such as counseling, hormone therapy, medical procedures and the social support necessary to freely express their gender identity and minimize discrimination. Many other obstacles may lead to distress, including a lack of acceptance within society, direct or indirect experiences with discrimination, or assault. These experiences may lead many transgender people to suffer with anxiety, depression or related disorders at higher rates than nontransgender persons.
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), people who experience intense, persistent gender incongruence can be given the diagnosis of "gender dysphoria." Some contend that the diagnosis inappropriately pathologizes gender noncongruence and should be eliminated. Others argue that it is essential to retain the diagnosis to ensure access to care. The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) is under revision and there may be changes to its current classification of intense persistent gender incongruence as "gender identity disorder."
