The LEO that got hit is Mike Chitwood, who's the Sheriff of Volusia County, FL. He's the son of the recently retired Upper Darby Superintendent of Police Michael Darby, and was once a Philly cop just like his dad.

The girl who hit him admitted she was shopping on Amazon with her phone and stated that she didn't stop because she thought she hit a mailbox.

BTW he is OK. Despite a broken fibula (no cast), stitches, road-rash, bruises, and a headache, he was back at work the next day:

Actually, live here long enough and you're bound to see this happen—There's too much Florida Mans not knowing how to properly secure their boats onto their trailers:



We came across that a few years back in Clearwater (still had my poopty single-digit megapixel flip-phone back then, so yeah, the resolution sucks ass). But I remember that since it was in the middle of the intersection, it actually didn't affect the traffic in all four directions much, although it did slow it down as it took us two or three traffic light cycles to finally get past it (just as much because of the looky-loo rubber neckers rather than being an obstruction).

It was actually fortunate that it stopped where it did. I noticed the scrape marks on the tarmac and it must have slid about 25 yards. I meant to get a shot of that but the driver of our vehicle just went too fast for me to get it.
