Bills are signing LB Zach Vigil to their practice squad, a source told ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim. Vigil, 26, played seven games last season for the Dolphins before finishing the year with the Redskins. He played in 16 games for Miami as an undrafted rookie in 2015.

Unexpected move: The #Bills just cut RB Jonathan Williams, source said. Productive player, was slated to be their No. 2 RB at one point.

Hopefully he can be the kind of help Larsson was for the Oilers' blueline last year. Not an exact parallel as Risto is much more of a risk-taker than Klefbom, but he should be able to offer some support and higher level defending than either Kulikov or Gorges could provide and more than McCabe should be counted on to provide. Assuming health, do you figure Beaulieu makes more sense stylistically with Bogo or is that a spot you believe McCabe should hold?

Should be interesting to follow the progress of your blueline this year and see if Housley has what it takes to coach a whole team!

- MaximumBone

I think most here would say McCabe is a better fit with Bogo as long as Bogo gets to play to his one strong suit of skating the puck, as Bulieau will likely start on the third pair....but it's also safe to say just about everyone can't wait until Bogo is off this team.

I am looking forward to seeing what Housely can do with our much-improved but still needs work defense.

I give up

you cut your back up RB, have a goal line back as your new back up

you trade your first year mlb only to cut the backup a week later

and other players are cut that would upgrade our overall roster and they trade for a punt returner

the team went 24-24 with clueless coaching

I feel bad for the season ticket holders

If you want to tank, keep the young player and cut Mike Tolbert.

From the time Sean McDermott met with Mike Tolbert after he was cut by Carolina, message was Bills wanted him to play mostly RB — not FB.

This is a Sabres blog and sometimes I get annoyed when people jump off topic, so then I have to read through a bunch of movie critiques, or kale smoothie jokes. But cutting Jonathan Williams makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! Regardless of if we're tanking or not (which obviously, we are) why get rid of a 5th round RB that's making 750k, that won't help us win if we're trying to tank, OR won't make a difference if we're trying to win. He's just a cheap, above average RB that we had under contract for 3 more years at a minimal cost! Sure, they can go out and get another one that might be as good and cheap, but why even create another freaking hole?

I'm all in for tanking, but you don't have to get rid of solid, cheap players that don't make much difference in the won't/loss column, and could still be useful if we happen to get good in 2 years.... I really was excited about this new regime, but they are making decisions that just do not make any sense; regardless of tanking or not! Geez!

There will surely be people saying calm down, it's just a backup RB, and I know. But my point is, you keep guys like that during a tank for reasons I already stated. Beane/McDermott better start giving us paying customers some freaking answers. And if it's "they didn't fit our scheme", or anything like that, well that's not a good sign. Williams was the PERFECT RB for a zone blocking scheme, and looked great in the preseason.

Sorry this is so long, but I'm very confused and pi$$ed off because I really am starting to think those new guys at OBD don't have a clue!

cutting dareus will cost almost $14 M against the cap next season...they'll need to hold their nose with him for a couple more seasons...personally, my hope is that he's ostracized by the staff, players and media...he's got the talent, just a lazy-ass m.f.

Why the hell would the sign Boldin then trade Watkins?

That is what started this mess.

I was really looking forward to this season, now I don't have to look forward to another Bills season for at least 2 more years.

The draught is going to hit 20 easily.
