So number 8 starts the year in the minors for 1 game. I mean he won't play there but... - ChadGoHawks
They are limited on which forwards can be sent to the AHL without going through waivers, Schmaltz is the only one. I would rather see Bouma get waived, but the team wouldn't get as close to the cap.
In the past the team has not demoted certain players for these "paper" transactions. I'm thinking of Hartman last season when a bunch of players were sent to Rockford around one of the extended breaks. So maybe Schmaltz doesn't get demoted and the team finds another way to get close to the cap ceiling. |

Just jumping in here .I think Peeters and Raddysh could be future sleepers out of this gang . Debrincat concerns me, seen him live a couple times then in the WJ and memorial cup .Did not do a whole lot in the games I seen ,but his numbers are hard to ignore . Hope I am wrong like they say u can't teach scoring .. Nobody drafted Dino ,the broken leg did not help but still .. - oldduffman
To be fair, he was hurt in the WJC. He led all players in the memorial cup with 8 assists. |

I'm crossing my fingers that Raddysh has a strong enough camp to earn an ELC contract. He'll still likely play in Rockford next season, but it would be nice to get him on board officially.

Well do you really think DeBrincat starts in Chicago? I know you didn't say that. But the fact seems to be there is no need to rush him. Let him play the pro game in the AHL for a while. I say at least half a season. Let us see how Toews does. If Hartman is better and if anyone else steps up.
Regarding DeBrincat :Some reports point to a good attitude, willingness to work on things. I say let him work on the need sometimes to escape punishment and pick his board battles. If he is a natural scoring talent then let him percolate in the AHL. His time will come. |

I do not expect him to start. He's 19 and will have a harder transition to the speed and size of the NHL, in my opinion. |

Assuming Stan wants to get as close to the cap ceiling as possible before putting Hossa on LTIR I wanted to see how close he could get. Now, I'm not suggesting this is the long term roster, this is just the combination that gets the team closest to $75,000,000. I would assume the team would change greatly as soon as possible.

With all the swedes and whomever doesn't make Chicago - there are others in Rockford, too - Raddysh should be happy to play a lot in the ECHL and earn an AHL look. Do you concur? |

He'd have to not be very good to end up in the ECHL. |

Actually we don't play on 10/04/17, so it can just be a paper move and he can still play in our opener on 10/05/17." |

Dahlstrom the dman at Rockford last season formerly was a forward. - jhawk59
John Dahlström is a left forward from Sweden who plays both wings.
Carl Dahlström is a big defenseman from Sweden who has always has been a defenseman.
Robin Press is a big defenseman from Sweden who was a forward and has only been playing defense three and half years.... |

Now that you straightened me out on the forward who previously played defense, let's see if you the draft expert remembers what team drafted my all time favorite funny hockey name - Wacey Rabbit.
Let's hope the Blackhawks pull a defenseman prospect or two out of a hat because we know Q likes his veterans.
I just know it won't be Wacey. Besides he was a forward, still playing within last couple years AHL maybe Bruins. |

Does it have to be for a game?
The season starts on Wednesday, October 4 - if the Hawks are cap compliant on the 4th, can't they then make the move before opening night on Thursday?

I disagree. Raddysh already has an AHL contract and I think it's reasonable to think he has the ability to play in Rockford.
I'm not suggesting Raddysh is NHL ready, but by signing him to an NHL deal the Hawks own his rights, right now they do not. If the Hawks management didn't see any potential in the kid, or thought he was ECHL talent, they would not have bothered with him at all. |

Agree with your comment about Raddysh and his AHL contract. I believe the reasoning is the same with Bouma. I know some on these boards don't particularly care for him (not saying you), but he was signed with the expectation of being in the starting lineup. |

I want to emphasize I was only saying that due to a numbers crunch, he may feel regular playing time in the ECHL. If he is good enough to play AHL in someone's stead, that is good news for him. I never doubted he could play AHL; I really didn't know but I did realize there is a glut of dmen prospects. |

What team holds the best opportunity for him? Will he take less for a situation he likes I bet thus could be a veteran Bowman and Q would try out. Nothing guaranteed, would he sign here. There is divided opinion on the board. I pass. |

If the money is the same it will all depend on what he wants.
If Franson wants to go home he'll sign in Vancouver, if he wants to content for a Cup it's Edmonton, Chicago or San Jose.
If it's truly a one-year deal then my guess is that Chicago and San Jose would be the most likely destinations. However, given all the excitement about the Oilers it may be difficult to pass up that opportunity. |

Depends on his motivation I guess.
Vancouver is his best bet if he wants ice time to earn a bigger contract, but might backfire pretty bad if the Nucks get torched every night. |
