It has been an honor and privilege watching the sedins grow and become elite over the years. They have been awesome for the canucks and vancouver. They have earned their right to retire as canucks...and for the right price...play as long as they compete for the spots. |

Just need to find that first and second line take the heat off of the twins and let them be a threat against teams third D pairings. |

Idk how that can happen before retirement. Ops see the Sedins as a threat & check them 1st. If they were somehow a 3rd line its guaranteed PO's & prolly a cup run. So its a nice idea but only that lol |

Aaron Irving and Zack MacEwen are both scratched today, along with Brock Boeser and Matt Barberis.
As expected, Thatcher Demko starts in goal, with Michael Garteig backing up.
Yan-Pavel Laplante is listed as 3LW today. His line starts, with Johnny Corneil at centre and Alexis D'Aoust on RW.
The Oilers are starting with their big line of Joseph Gambardella, Chad Butcher and Kailer Yamamoto. |

The way the Flames played us physically tells us much.
Do we have the grit & toughness or the speed/skill to counter?
Neither atm |

i was going for the sarcastic touch on my comment. i know there is no way in h3ll they get a top line to produce 120 points minimum and find a second line to score another 45-50 goals to relegate the twins to third line duty before they hang em up. |

On D, Chatfield is back after sitting out on Saturday.
He starts with Juolevi.
Game On! |
|
|
|
The Canucks try to get off to a physical start, and quickly surrender a power play.
Johnny Corneil goes to the box for hooking. |
|
|
|
Nice aggression from Stukel on the PK.
He gets clear on a breakaway, forcing Edmonton to take a penalty too.
Now we're 4-on-4. |
|
|
|
Much better pace from the Canucks to start this game!
Shots are 3-2 Vancouver as we get back to 5-on-5. |

Chatfield's gap control is impressive. Not sure about his upside, but he's a smart player and plays within himself. |

I liked the way he played that last sequence, too.
There's no captain at this tournament, and they've been rotating 3 A's.
LaPlante is wearing one today!

Stukel has been impressive but he needs to learn to finish off the chances |

I don't think he gets a NHL contract. |

Much smaller crowd today—no surprise I guess, since it's a work day.
The end zone seats are more empty than full.
Apparently this morning's game between Calgary and Winnipeg was a bit of a dead zone. The Jets won—and the Flames only managed 10 shots on goal after their strong performance yesterday. |
